Warhorse Barbell Club is for everyone. I've belonged to different kinds of gyms over the last decade ranging from commercial athletic facilities to CrossFit affiliates to bodybuilding gyms -- Warhorse is by far the most unique and versatile. They provide clean space and up-to-date equipment needed for training as well as a custom program geared toward individual fitness goals. What makes them different is that they can provide effective training programs to a wide spectrum of people. For example, I am a seasoned weightlifter, and my wife is new to lifting. While we have very different goals, both of us receive quality training. Both of us feel like we belong. Both of us are treated with the same kindness and respect by the coaches. One thing I love about Warhorse is that they acknowledge that people have lives outside of the gym. They ensure that training won't leave them incapable of living whether that's playing with their kids, doing a sport, carrying groceries, or just getting up and down the stairs. I also appreciate that there's a teaching component in each training session so that members can develop some level of independence over time and understand how their training translates to their daily activities or sport. I think this is super beneficial for people newer to lifting, but I have also learned a ton so far in the few months I've been there.I feel safe, happy, and fulfilled personally and athletically at Warhorse. Joining is one of the best things I've done for my health, and I highly recommend checking them out regardless of experience/fitness level. Everyone can be strong, and training at Warhorse will make you believe that.

I came to warhorse looking for training for a random powerlifting meet i signed up for. just 9 weeks out Chris wrote me a program and with the help of the incredible coaches i was able to feel prepared for my meet.I honestly felt welcome and well received even tho i am an amateur lifter, i decided to stay.I don’t have a professional background on fitness or anything but i could tell from the get go that the training is well though of, fitting people who are brand new to working out to more seasoned individuals.I personally feel very at home, feel understood and never judged :)

Hands down, the best gym I have ever been to. I have tried a lot of different things throughout the years like barre, cycling, boot camps, etc. and this type of workout and gym specifically is my absolute favorite. Not being very experienced with weight lifting, the coaches took undivided time to teach and encourage me. The individual program that was designed for me and my goals, allowed me to learn so much about the capabilities of my body and grow my confidence. The owners of this gym are truly amazing; they are so friendly, encouraging, supportive, helpful, and truly meet you where you are at. I never felt like I was competing or comparing myself to the others in the gym - it's a very supportive atmosphere where many are at different stages of their health/fitness journey. I'm so sad I had to leave this gym as I had to relocate. I highly recommend this gym for anyone that doesn't love group workouts but likes to have some 1-1 coaching and attention while being in a highly positive and friendly environment.

The owners are amazing and they’ve got a great team of coaches! I have an autoimmune illness and I came into Warhorse hoping that a few sessions a week might help me get back into shape - it did so much more. The community they’ve built just gives you the confidence to do so much more than you ever thought you were capable of before.

I joined Warhorse a year ago and I have been blown away by the quality of the coaching staff. They are knowledgeable, supportive, and take the time to ensure each member is using proper form and technique. Their expertise and attention to detail has helped me make great strides in my fitness goals. In addition to the competent coaching, what I love about this gym is the sense of community among the members. Everyone is supportive and encouraging, and there is a real camaraderie that makes working out a fun and enjoyable experience. I have never felt like just another number at this gym.Overall, I highly recommend Warhorse to anyone looking for a gym with top-notch coaching and a supportive community. You won't regret it!

Going into 2021 I was in the worst shape in my life. I had never really been happy with myself but this was a different situation. Doing basic things like walking farther than one block in the city resulted in back pain, foot pain, and shortness of breath. I started saying "no" to things because of how out of shape I was. I didn't want to go to museums, for walks down to the park. My world was shrinking and I wasn't able to live the life that I wanted. I decided to try to lose weight so I started dieting. I lost about 80 pounds on my own before it really sank in that the problem wasn't my weight, it was my lack of strength and cardiovascular fitness. I signed up for a consultation with Warhorse and it isn't an exaggeration to say that it changed my life. I've worked out before, had numerous gym memberships, spent nearly 20 years from my teens into my mid-thirties trying and failing on my own. But this was different, the guidance, support, and enthusiasm that I received from Chris, Caolan, Marta, John, and everyone there was tremendous. They helped me learn proper lifting form, and created a warm environment where I never felt judged and where I felt surrounded by other people who were all there pursuing their physical goals in earnest. I've been to a couple of other gyms since that are packed with teens crowding around each other bench pressing and being obnoxious, and gyms where 50-75% of the gym-goers are there with their tripods out filming for Instagram. That is not what Warhorse is like. They genuinely care about people's health and well-being. Through the many conversations I've had with Chris I've learned that he is an incredibly caring guy with a huge heart who is passionate about helping people get healthy and live long, active, lives with their loved ones.Working with Warhorse I've made huge strides with regards to my strength and work capacity. I doubled my squat, went from benching around 180ish to over 300 pounds, and developed a real love of deadlifting, despite my little t-rex arms! The staff at Warhorse helped me build the confidence to compete in my first powerlifting meet, which is the first athletic event that I have participated in since I was about 12 years old. Since then I've done a second meet and plan to compete again later this year. Most importantly, I can't remember the last time I said "no" to something because of my fitness level. I feel like they really helped me get back to living a full life, and I will always be incredibly thankful for that.

I became a member of Warhorse Barbell in the summer of 2022 and I have continued my membership, taking both morning and evening sessions throughout the week. It is quite literally one of the best gyms in Philadelphia. The Trainers are amazing, the people who show up are inspiring and very motivating. They also have really cool merch!I’m excited to see what Warhorse does with its 2nd location in Graduate Hospital.

Warhorse Barbell Club is truly a special place. All these incredible Google reviews prompted me to schedule my first consultation, and whoa: I'm so glad I did. Since I started strength training at Warhorse, so many areas of my life have improved: my sleep, my physique, my chronic pain, my mental health, my sense of discipline.Following a serious accident that left my hips, pelvis, and legs crushed, I spent about a year re-learning how to walk. Once I was back on my feet, my physical therapists gave me the green light to go back to the gym: but I floundered through commercial gyms for years, never truly addressing significant weaknesses leftover from my injuries.I decided to give Warhorse a go. During my first consultation with Chris, we went over these injuries, and came up with an attack plan to get a baseline of strength back. Then, working with the incredible trainers to make modifications to key exercises (Marta, Caolan, and Alex: you guys are angels), I started building that strength back. Now, I’m navigating the gym and equipment with confidence. I’m lifting heavier than I ever have. And my pain and weakness have decreased significantly. I’m also constantly inspired by the other members here: I still have to pick my jaw up off the floor when I see someone hit a new PR (and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little lump in my throat when everyone in the gym cheers for them). It’s such a wholesome place. Also — it’s clear they’ve built a community that’s inclusive, supportive, welcoming, and intolerant of hate or disrespect. I see all kinds of bodies when I look around the gym: black, white, gay, trans, male, female, old, young. Everyone’s there to work hard, and get 1% better than they were. It's a safe place to do so.I have a whole new respect for my body and all the incredible things it can do, and for the power of process and consistency. This is all thanks to Warhorse and the great people who make this place what it is.OK, sorry for the novel! The short story: if you’re considering this gym, pick up the phone and schedule the consultation. You won’t be sorry :-)

I can’t say enough great things about Warhorse. Before I came here, I had lifted a few times here or there, but mostly did group fitness classes. I was very intimidated by barbell work and nervous, but quickly realized that I had no reason to be. All the coaches there are so welcoming, accommodating, and truly take the time to work with each member during the session. They offer helpful advice and any modifications you may need based on your fitness level. They are are encouraging and push you (in a good way) to do things you thought you couldn’t ever do. The space is clean, well maintained and has a variety of equipment. Chris and Jaclyn, the owners, know each member by name so it definitely has a community feel. They have truly created an amazing place and it will make you fall in love with strength training. I cannot recommend this place enough, it is truly the best gym in Philadelphia.

Warhorse is more than just a gym. The owners, Chris and Jaclyn, are incredibly passionate about the personal success of every member, in and out of the gym, and they use fitness as their means of accomplishing that. Not only do they personally hold themselves to a high standard, but they pick all of their coaches based on this too. They have been very successful in building a staff that has the same selfless values that they do. They are very knowledgeable in what they do, so you are in good hands. They are welcoming to anyone that walks through their doors, whether you're a world-class powerlifter or you have never picked a weight up in your life.If you come and check the gym out, which you should, you will truly see how much they cater to the needs of the individual in order to boost confidence, rather than just throwing you in. If you come here, you will not regret it. If you are intimidated by the gym scene, you will not be when you come here. If you have a tough time staying consistent with fitness, come here. They create an environment that makes it hard not to come back everyday. If you want to get started, but don't know where to go, come here. It is a pretty easy choice coming to Warhorse. If you are reading this review because you are thinking about trying it out, do yourself a favor and just do it. You won't regret it!
