Such an amazing gym! The routes are fun and challenging, the staff are so helpful. They also put on a lot of fun competition that even newer climbers could join and have a blast!

Super solid gym with a variety of styles set. Busy but fun community vibe and the staff were great. If you like a good boulder, gotta go.

When I initially started going in 2020 this place was nice and clean. I guess now that Covid is in the past they don’t feel the need to clean. There is so much chalk on all the holds that it is hard to get grip on anything.the footholds are completely black. It smells like dirty feet. They have brushes hanging around the floor sometimes, so you can clean yourself. However, they have employees just sitting around who could certainly go around and clean a couple times a day. It’s really disappointing how filthy it is. I’d consider getting a membership if it was taken care of.

This gym has potential, however I left earlier than I’d like to have given the day pass price. The facility has quite a bit of space for bouldering, unfortunately half of it was closed when I went and they still charged $23.The holds were some of the dirtiest and shoe polished I’ve ever seen- I’m not sure they’ve ever been touched with a pressure washer (or maybe it’s the plague of all Phoenix gyms) I’ve climbed on cleaner home spray walls. This factor made their hardest climbs annoying to try. I would have also like to see some smaller holds on their hardest climbs- it was hard to get a serious training session out of my visit. With that all said, the facility is nice enough and has an old school training basement vibe to it. I much prefer this sort of space over the clean cut, dentist-office lighting modern gym. This place could definitely be sick if they improve the route setting, clean their holds, and set climbs harder than v8. I’ll check it out next work trip and see what’s changed!EDIT: I am obligated to mention that if you have any issues with the facility, Chris, the founder, will reach out to you directly and make it right.

Great bouldering gym. Definitely my favorite in the area, and when my friends come from out of town I take them here. Routes are diverse and interesting and they trade out their routes often. I love their yoga classes (some of them are HARD): schedule is on their website. Very friendly people and staff in general.

The best bouldering gym in town just got better!*edited*I went to BRBG for over a year and it was one of the best I've ever been too. The staff are friendly and helpful. Regulars and advanced climbers were never "too good" to help out beginners and the facility was fantastic. They just unveiled the renovations and there is a whole second side with more walls, a training area and a moon board. They also have yoga classes throughout the week and a 1 hour boot camp class called Ninja Fit.Come and visit for yourself!

Excellent facility with even better staff. Black rock is an entirely bouldering focused facility with a wide variety of problems that regularly rotate. The setters do a great job setting different styles and the overall rotation schedule means that you have enough time to work your projects but there are always new problems to try as well.Classes are offered as part of the membership and I have enjoyed both the yoga and fitness classes.Black Rock also has an excellent training space which includes squat racks / benches, dumbbells, hangboards, campus ladder, pegboard, and a moon board. There are several climbing gyms in the area but if you enjoy bouldering this is definitely the best choice.

New to town & checked out black rock first, I don’t do much rope climbing. Went during lunchtime, so I had most of the gym to myself. This made it feel even bigger than it already is. Impressive amount of routes & a fantastic variety. Some are outrageously long on “the beast”…I think they are “Yosemite grade”? Whatever they are, they take a lot of endurance. Personally really enjoyed the sections without grades (just numbered)…what a cool way to get feedback from the community to the setters. PLEASE keep those around! Overall awesome gym & from the few people I saw, filled with great people. Peter at check in was friendly. I’ll likely purchase a membership after my punch cards run out!
