Most well-organized gym I've ever been a part of. Not only the workout routines - but the coaches and their coaching philosophy. They have their act together - are coordinated, passionate - and most importantly, they are in sync with the program they've built. It doesn't matter which coach I get, at what hour of the day - the workout is consistent. I personally am a newbie to crossfit, just 3 months in now - so scoping out gyms I was a little intimidated at first, because I knew I didn't have the strength and fitness levels of anyone that was out there. What drew me to 12th State was the fact their instructors took the time (and continue to take the time) to work with me on the correct mechanics and techniques. The weights will come - but having a consistent foundation from all of the trainers was key for me. Obviously - it's been a very positive experience with the members as well. Very encouraging, and very energetic which I need to do an early morning class. I know 3 of the members qualified for regionals and one is competing at the Reebok Crossfit games - so the level of athlete here ranges from a beginner like me - to your ESPN athletes. Nothing quite like it, and I'm glad I did my homework and ended up at 12th State! Highly recommend it for all.

If you had told me I would be power cleaning or split jerking a year ago, I would have asked you what those things were. I'm definitely still a crossfit newbie, but the owner Cliff takes each new member through an introductory course with the common movements. Each class can be modified to your comfort level, with multiple options of movements for the day. All of the coaches are rockstars, they make every class fun and always offer personalized advice to become better in the sport. The community continues to grow and the flexibility with the class schedules is great. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a start to crossfit in Raleigh.

Great box! I was visiting town for an event and dropped in to participate in the crossfit open. Coach Cliff was very welcoming and professional and did a great job motivating me to push my limits during the individual heat. The space itself is spacious and VERY clean with super modern equipment. I definitely recommend this box and will certainly be visiting again when I am in town.

I can't say enough good things about 12th State CrossFit! I've been a member for over two years and wish I'd joined the day they opened the doors. Here are a few reasons why:- Physical Location:- gym is clean and very well organized.- there is a 200 m, 400 m and mile loop easily accessible- classes have a 20 person cap to ensure athletes get focus- all equipment works and is wiped down after each use- garage doors that open on both sides and a big fan- Coaches:- I'm certain that we are the luckiest athletes in the world to have the coaches we have available to us!- A couple of the coaches are elite athletes that compete professionally or at the Games, so offer TONS of knowledge- every coach is a top notch athlete, yet all are humble, down-to-earth and make everyone feel welcome- I am thrilled to take a class with any of the coaches that are on the schedule and appreciate the way the schedule is rotated so that I get to experience them all- there is an intro class in which one can try out the gym for a month to learn the movements with no contractual commitment- Head Coach:- Coach Cliff is the nicest person, stellar athlete and a great coach!- programs 8 week cycles and switches it up to focus on different skills (ie, gymnastics, weightlifting)- if there is a reasonable suggestion made, he'll organize a survey to get feedback from members- sends newsletters to keep us all feeling connected and informed- Misc:- body comp measurement offered every quarter- massages offered at gym on regular basis- special workshops offered to focus on certain movements- online shop to order supplements and t-shirts- Community:- a really nice group of people of all ages and all skill levelsHighly recommend! : )

I love 12th State Crossfit! I came in a total skeptic (almost 3 years ago). And immediately felt like a member of the family. And you will too. This gym has the BEST coaching you will find. They modify any workout to athletes' different levels. All the members motivate each other to do their best. The gym is incredibly clean and organized. They also have a lot of equipment so no one is left out. If you want a really great workout while having fun with your friends, this is the place for you.

I dropped in for about a week and really enjoyed it. Equipment is all new, coaches are nice and the space is clean. Drop-in rate is reasonable as well.
