The UTD Activity Center at The University of Texas at Dallas offers a range of recreational activities, including soccer, basketball, squash, and volleyball, as well as a swimming pool. The gym is well-equipped with various machines, although it suffers from overcrowding and equipment maintenance issues. Students appreciate the clean facilities and the readily available help from staff.

However, frequent equipment breakdowns and a consistent lack of essential maintenance, such as broken scales and empty soap dispensers, detract from the overall experience. The gym's limited size compared to the student population results in long queues during peak hours, affecting its usability.

Pros:

  • Diverse facilities for soccer, basketball, squash, and volleyball.
  • Well-equipped gym with a variety of machines.
  • Clean and well-maintained gym area.
  • Helpful and available staff.
  • Open until 1 AM on weekdays.
  • Swimming pool with 4-5 lanes.
  • Easy access with school ID swipe.

Cons:

  • Frequent equipment breakdowns and delays in repair.
  • Overcrowded during peak hours.
  • Lack of soap in shower dispensers.

Terrible place, confrontational students at gym getting into fights, employees don’t do jobs because they’re underpaid. Disgusting and trash everywhere. Go to a full time gym instead.

Awfully crowded, no good ventilation, and they don’t even care to fix it.

It is a quite pathetic display of a public university workout gym. UT Dallas is one of the biggest universities in the US, and has a good reputation in Texas. Yet, the activity center is lackluster in terms of accommodating their students during peak hours and on top of that, the gym is very small in proportion to the number of students that go there for working out. A very simple instrument like the weight measure scale does not even work and is out of order, and the staff said it is not a priority to fix it since not many people use it. The other parts of the activity center seems fine but the gym is a huge mess.

This is a great place to work. The students are great, and my fellow drivers are really good people. The only problem is the equipment..ie. the buses. Our busses are in need of great repair, which makes our job as drivers very difficult to perform at a high level. Never mind the great risks from a safety standpoint.

It has all the machines I need, but they break frequently and take a long time to replace. For example, the Calf machine broke last year and it's still not replaced. They did get new equipment, but neglected the Calf machine which is what alot of people wanted fixed. Most of the equipment is very old though. It is also super busy mon-fri, but that's not really the fault of the gym.

An excellent and clean gym area, honestly no other complaints other than there not being enough benches on Monday, but that's only because it's chest day for most people. Nobody bothers you there, all you have to do is swipe your school ID and finish your workout and leave.

A lot of facilities: hall for soccer/basketball, many rooms for squash/volleyball.Gym is pretty good, it contains any facilities, which I can image. Sometimes a bit busy, but at night after noon there aren't queues.Swimming pool for 4-5 tracks looks cool, but I have never used it.Sometimes there is no soap in shower.

The activity center is really a place if you want to play, entertain, or do a good time spending in the campus. It has equipped with all latest things and it's a worth look for. Also it's always busy in evening so if you want to enjoy something without less audience , you can go early morning or evening.

Equipment is kept in pretty good condition and employees are always willing to help with a spot on a heavy lift. This place is just way too small for a school with as many students as UT Dallas has. Locker room never has soap in the dispensers and I'm always wondering why this place is so subpar at the highest tuition cost at a public university in Texas.
