Recently went in to check out the gym but although the equipment and amenities were good the customer experience was terrible. When I spoke to the manager (I think his name was Rob), he told me that the 3-day trial offer that is heavily advertised by crunch fitness is a marketing gimmick. My questions related to I’d like to visit the gym once to get a feel for the location were met with absolutely sarcastic (and slightly childish) responses. All in all, seems like a decent gym with an unprofessional manager which is a no go for me.

TLDR; Manager Rob missing basic Customer Service skills.I have been a member for over 5 years. This past week was the last week of membership which expired few days ago post covid extension. I am in the process of renewing with my home base on Polk but decided to check out the Signature Branch on Union in the interim to make up my mind on the location and if the All Bay Access membership is worth it. Showed up at the front (expecting to pay drop-in*)let them know membership expired. The Front Desk (who happened to b awesome) let me know I can go workout. I tried buying a drink to support the branch and the manager waves me over. Rob looked me up and tells me I need to renew with him or go back to my HB. Pointed out that employee waved me through, I am already in touch with home base membership and have committed for today, driving to this location. He let me know he’s the boss of this branch and if I wanted to workout I need to pay ($35 plus drink). Manager has many options at his disposal in this situation but decided to disregard Crunch values or the long standing relationship I’ve had with Crunch. Be better man. Stop worrying about your quota and concentrate on building relationships with your customers. Could have instead sold me a PT or inspired me to change HB or reinforced the Crunch values by staying cool.

This gym has no billing department. If you want them to keep charging you when you are no longer a member anymore, then sign up with them. I stopped my membership months ago and I’m still getting charged every month. I sent four emails and they did not respond. I even went to the physical store to talk to the manager. He told me that I need to send them an email because they cannot do anything at the gym.I’ve also heard from other people that they had the same problem.

I dropped in to use the bike on my vacation, as our hotel did not have a gym. The kind front desk staff just let me work out for free! The place is clean and well stocked with towels and nice change rooms.

Watch out -- akin to Comcast, they start you out at a low rate ($60/m) but then after you are a regular customer, they surprise you with an unexpected price hike (get you here about 6 months in). Also, signing up feels like a car dealership/upsell situation. However, the facilities are great and not too crowded. I wanted to love this spot.

I've gone to this neighborhood gym for years - it's friendly, convenient (close to my home) and provides all the gym options I need since working out is not my favorite thing to do. I use the gym for maintenance vs. body building - and this CRUNCH has two floors with plenty of machines so there's seldom any waiting or delays in my exercise hour. Plus, this Union Street location has fewer 'Marina Bros' strutting their stuff, which is typical of the general character of the street (vs. the CRUNCH on Chestnut).

I can easily recommend this place for people who work/live in the area and people who are interested in personal training. The gym is maintained well and also clean. In fact, every time I go in I see the cleaning staff working. The personal training staff has been such a pleasure to work with. My fiancé and I haven’t gone to the gym in year and were a little intimidated with walking back into the gym. Once introduced to Ryan & Ava, we knew we were in good hands. They took the time to explain the process, help create nutrition plans for us, as well as explain what we should be doing at the gym when we aren’t participating in our personal training sessions.I’ve been working with Ava for a couple of weeks now and have never felt better. She has been so kind and understanding of my fitness goals. She creates workouts for me based on the specific areas I want to target. Ava has been wonderful and has upbeat and enjoyable energy. I look forward to all my training sessions with her, even though I know my body will be incredibly sore after we work out. If you’re new to the gym and want to learn from an exceptional trainer, Ava is your girl!In conclusion, Crunch is pretty great. We go to a couple other locations, but Union is the one we frequent the most. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Ava and the personal training at Crunch. Investing in your health is the best investment you could make.

The gym is well maintained overall and just been upgraded with new equipment and functional training area. Perfect value for money.

Great gym for the space they have. Friendly staff and nice equipment. As you can expect it gets pretty busy some weekdays around 7. Only trouble I had was trying to find floor space when the group fitness class was occupied.

Good gym - clean with interesting classes. The best class is the anti-gravity yoga wing class on Sundays at 10:15! They're also offering a 50/month sign up special for 2 days at the Union St. Festival.
