Wayne and the rest of the instructors are super supportive. I've been coming for about a year now and I've seen so much improvement from my first class. If you're looking to get into the sport I highly recommend SMAA.

If you've ever thought about starting jiu-jitsu or wanted to try out a new gym, then this is the place to be. I can't imagine training anywhere else. I started with zero experience and everybody has welcomed me with open arms(and then they would slowly close it around my neck forcing me to tap). It truly is an awesome place with amazing instructors. My kids have started training and they can't be happier. They're having a blast while also putting in some serious work in. I highly recommend SMAA whether it's your first time or if you are a high level belt.

I recently dropped in at SMAA to train several times while I was in town for work. I could not have been more impressed with the coaching or the atmosphere. Everyone was extremely welcoming and the instruction was top notch. Professor Knudsen is extremely knowledgeable and spends as much time helping beginners as he does tweaking experienced practitioners. If you’re thinking about trying out BJJ for the first time or just looking for a place to get some extra training in, I cannot recommend them enough. I travel a lot for work and have dropped in at a lot of academies. SMAA is in my top 3 BJJ academies I’ve trained at. Check them out.

This was my first BJJ experience and I don’t think I will ever come across another gym this great! I joined to work on my health and lose weight, so I felt very insecure when I started. Everyone was so welcoming and inspiring. Both men and women motivated me to continue, and complimented me on sticking with it. What I loved the most was seeing the passion and respect everyone had for BJJ. I was so sad to have to leave. I hope someday our job can bring us back to the area.

Wayne has a great gym. Very welcoming to anyone. Wayne is a phenomenal instructor and his students are great.

My fiancé introduced me to this gym and I am brand new to it, I am on my second week, however everyone has been extremely welcoming. I had horrible anxiety about joining but once that was made clear the females had made me feel extremely welcomed and made sure they worked with me so I would feel comfortable. Everyone there is extremely patient with you when you’re trying to learn the gym etiquette. It’s family oriented so that makes me excited since I just had a baby and she will be Spending some time up there. Also the coach is super knowledgeable and has an amazing way of explaining something when it doesn’t make sense originally. Overall so far it has been an awesome experience and I cannot wait till I can go to another class every day.

I’ve never learned so much so quickly.My daughter has been in the kids class for the past two months, and I loved watching her grow and get better every time. I recently joined myself, in the adult class, and I’m loving every minute of it. Everyone is super accommodating, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I was super out of shape, and after just a week, I have more energy, I feel better about myself, I’ve made a couple of friends, and I’m learning so much about Jiu Jitsu. Wayne, the owner, is top-notch. I 100% recommend this place and their staff, because the deliver results!*buy a mouth guard, trust me.*

I trained at SMAA / Soul Fighters Shreveport on / off for about two years and it was always a highlight of my time in Shreveport. Honest, hardworking people started this place and it continues to be a welcoming, challenging place to train and get fit. The people that train there are genuine and supportive regardless of your experience level. Professor Knudsen is honest and fair and gives outstanding feedback. He makes all his students feel confident and welcomed. He constantly encourages students to push themselves to be their best version on and off the mat. There several ladies who are excellent to train with as well as kids classes -- take the whole family! Several families have made this gym their family hobby and for good reason. BJJ is a great sport and this gym is showcasing the best for north Louisiana.

We have been training as a family of 4 for a little over 6 months now under Coach Wayne's instruction. I can honestly say that it is the best decision we have made as parents for our boys as well as an investment in ourselves as adults. Coach Wayne has a love and passion for Jiu Jitsu that shines every time he steps on the mat. He loves his students and is invested in our lives and achievements. My kids love being there as much as we do and have chosen to continue Jiu Jitsu over other sports and activities. Jiu Jitsu has changed our lives for the better and we have Coach Wayne to thank for that. We love our home away from home! My have been doing Jiu Jitsu for almost 3 years now. It has given them such great confidence and keeps them busy instead of couch bound. We absolutely LOVE our Home Away Home. Coach Wayne Knudsen and all of the other Coaches are extremely knowledgeable. They absolutely adore the Kids and teach them life lessons on a daily basis.
