Reno Academy of Combat

I only tried out the MMA classes and I wasn't impressed. I felt like it was in daycare for moody teenagers and we really didn't learn anything. I was willing to put up with it because it was pretty cheap for MMA classes but the nail in the coffin was one time when we were practicing grappling, my partner and I bumped into this blonde kid grappling with one of the staff. It was a really minor bump and I looked at the guy and said "sorry bro. My bad. " He looked at me and literally jabbed me in the face and said "sorry bro my bad." The staff member a female whose name I don't remember, saw it and said nothing. It's like this place was made for kids to feel macho but that's just not for me. I want to go to a school that actually teaches pride and respect. The facility is really nice though. But all of their protein snacks are stale because I don't think they sell very many.

Went in to look at the weapons in stock, was asked by an employee "what state ID do you have?" I answered Oregon, employee stated that "you are not allowed to even touch any of the weapons. We can't even sell to Oregon." Which is not the case.....have the store employees ever heard of an FFL-to-FFL transfer? Sounds like they don't mind turning away potential money or sales based on some made up assumption. Certainly won't be going back here.

I have been out of shape in a horrible way the last few years, and I thought I would sign up for the cardio kickboxing class. It wipes me out, and I LOVE IT!!! I am so happy to go! And people in the class, especially Heather, are SO supportive and cheer you on! Plus they help you make sure you're doing the moves correctly!!! I'm still a little new and not completely able to do the moves, but I am enjoying this with all my heart!!! Thank you for being there Reno Academy of Combat and Fitness! I feel blessed!

I just took a CCW class at RAC. Rick and Heather we extremely knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend them to my friends, family and anyone looking to learn more about concealed carry. I normally don’t write reviews, but I wanted to say that I was so impressed with Rick and Heather’s strong stance on keeping the class safe. All I can say is be aware of any bad reviews. Those who write them may also be the ones that did not make it though the class for being so unsafe.

Take your classes here! You won't regret it.Heather and Rick are awesome! My Fiance and I took our CCW class with them and it was such a great experience! They are both so knowledgeable and fun. They care about customers/students who care about themselves and others and are serious about firearm safety and the safety of others. We will be returning for the Knife defense classes!

Excellent CCW class and very informative. Rick and Heather are great instructors with many real-life scenarios and tips on how to handle them effectively. They are very keen on handling firearms in a safe way. I will return to this class for my renewal. I highly recommend RAC. Keep up the excellent work, Rick and Heather.

My wife and I took out CCW certification class here and we were so impressed. Not only were Rick and his wife Heather professional and knowledgeable but we walked out of there feeling that we were treated like friends. Very passionate about what they teach and truly wanting to help people. Rick and Heather being both highly trained and confident in their teaching were also two of the most humble people we have ever met. We will definitely recommend them and also would like to go back for more classes. Thank you Rick and Heather!!!

I took a class here recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. The instructors/owners Rick and Heather are very knowledgeable and work hard to ensure everyone receives quality instruction. I personally felt unprepared skill wise for the class I took but Heather encouraged me to not give up and to keep trying. At the end of the class, I left having more confidence in myself and the ability to continue through challenges. I accomplished so much in the time I was there and will sign up for more classes! I definitely recommend RAC to anyone interested in a fitness/mma/firearms instruction.

My wife and I took the one day CCW class on 8/17/19. It was a good class. Both Rick and Heather were great. Rick was a diamond in the rough like many men early in life, now you can see many facets of this gem polished from life. You’ve heard the saying beside every good man is a good woman, Heather is there guiding the way. Heather and Rick at the Reno Academy of Combat are AWESOME. I started out with the cardio kickboxing class that Heather teaches. She was very helpful and would even take some class time to work with me one on one until I got the hang of it. I enjoy it so much that I have also started the strength and conditioning class she teaches. Every class is different so you don’t get bored or feel stuck in a routine. Heather and Rick are the sweetest and most hands on owners that take the time to learn everyone’s name which makes it an awesome atmosphere. Best gym ever!
