Started training here recently to pick up some self defense skills. I was initially intimidated being one of only a couple women in the class but everyone was so friendly and welcoming and encouraging that I keep going back. 😊 Since I started more women have been showing up and they even have a women only class on Saturdays. Highly recommend for anyone but especially women!

Professor Leandro is an amazing instructor. I was fortunate to train there for a couple years while working in the area. He encourages everyone to start slow and grow safely with the art. The gym teaches a philosophy/'lifestyle' mindset that encourages transferring strength from on the mats to real world difficulties/obstacles. He provides opportunity for growth and involvement in the sport, from teaching, to competition, even organizing activities outside of gym time. It truly is a community full of caring and compassionate individuals and I fully recommend it to everyone. Whether you are looking to socialize, learn self-defense, or compete at some of the highest levels of the sport, there is a space for everyone.

I'm 33 years old and a complete beginner to any martial arts. I decided to try the free intro class to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. I was expecting to embarrass myself and was very anxious about going. I'm so glad I did! Everyone was so kind and accommodating. The instructor was clearly very skilled and his teaching style was easy to follow. I left the class sore, sweaty, and with a huge smile on my face! My only complaint is that 45 minutes flew by and I was disappointed when it was over. I will definitely be back!

Finally! This school is the real deal!I checked out a noon class and decided to participate in the evening class that same day! I was so impressed, I signed both myself and my 14yr old son. My son and I had been training at another school and there were many disconnects.Professor Leandro runs a tight ship. He truly embraces the roots of Gracie Humiata. He brings its traditions to all of his students through all of his teachings. His passion and level of experience is uncanny! He loves to compete and if you’re competing or interest, this is the school you should be learning and training from. Professor Leandro is one of a kind, Theses days they don’t come like him. I’ve learned more in two weeks than I have in 2yrs plus! His students are all positive and go above and beyond to welcome all new members. My wife and I have been training bjj under professor Leandro for almost 3 years. If you spend anytime training at oceans you understand the passion and competitive experience Leandro has for the sport and art. This is definitely the spot to come for some solid traditional bjj.

Ive been to other bjj gyms and i love training at Oceans. Leandro is hands down a great instructor and a good guy. All of the other people who train with you are fun, competitive and very respectful. You will work hard training but have a great time simultaneously. You wont be let down
