This isn't the nicest or the newest gym in the area, but if I was to choose between this gym and PRG which is similar in pricing, I would choose this one in a heartbeat. This gym is less crowded, is less stinky, teaches proper way to belay with a grigri (rather than the outdated way), and doesn't require belayer to anchor into to a rope coming out of the floor (which to me gets in the way of moving and is unncessary on toprope if there is not a huge weight difference between the climber and the belayer.)One star subtracted because the routes aren't made from holds all of the same color.

Best rock climbing gym in Tempe, and personally, in the valley. It’s cheap, has all kinds of rentals, and has a ton of routes and climbs. Can climb on or off rope. The place is really great. I also think they do classes.

Awesome climbing gym. Not extremely new, somewhat beat up, but ultimately, the place isn’t super busy and it’s absolutely huge. The owner keeps the routes updated, and is also incredibly knowledgeable when teaching new climbers what to do. It’s my favorite gym around.
