I was nervous about going to a kickboxing class after having a baby this year and not really doing any kind of physical activity for a while before that, but I felt very comfortable and welcomed when starting at Just Train. Everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace and feeling judged is never a thing. I always have a great time and am already seeing major improvements and results. I am very glad I found this place!

I've been going to this gym for seven years, and I'm definitely not the only one. There's actually a lot of variety in who walks through the doors between folks coming in for 5+ years and people just starting out. Everything is at your own pace and modified if you have any injuries or need to work on progression. Most box gyms have only an annual membership with extra (pricey) fees if you cancel early, but Chris offers annual, monthly, and class packs to make it flexible for everyone at different price points. Super flexible, and everybody (instructors of course, and other folks in class) just want to see you reach your fitness goals. Like anything worth doing, if working out was easy and you lost 30lbs in a month, everybody would have a six pack! That's just not realistic, but the team here works with you, cares about how it's going. Nutrition plans too! Everyone here is supper welcoming, there aren't any pushy muscle-heads like there are at box gyms, just genuine people who actually care.If you read a lot of the other reviews you'll know Chris is a fantastic owner, anything with cancellation policies are actually mandated by the State of Rhode Island and/or the billing company and he's actually really open about explaining it if you have questions, and there's postings at the front desk and it's on the waiver. We do fundraisers for local animal shelters every so often, 5Ks every fall and spring, "Gymsgiving", potlucks, etc.Oh and there's also two gym cats!

I joined the Gym this past March 2022 for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu after having trained for about two years in Washington DC. I am very pleased with the quality of instruction from Chris, George, and Ryan. Basically, the BJJ program is super legit. I highly recommend for anyone in Southern RI to check them out to get good rounds in. Os!

I was a member at the gym from February to July. I needed to cancel my gym membership due to health issues, with hopes of returning in the fall. The first week of July the gym was closed. The following week I wrote to the owner saying I need to cancel. He told me he wouldn’t be able to cancel July or August because he needed a 30 day notice or a doctor’s note. I gave him my doctor’s note and received no response. I attempted to contact him several times and never received a response back, even though I could see that he had read all my messages. I was never rude and apologized for having to cancel. I was still charged for August. I again emailed him letting him know that I was charged for the month of August and was hoping to be refunded. No response. I find this very unprofessional. At least respond back saying you for some reason, could not issue me a refund. I got NOTHING. Even other members were appalled, disappointed and shocked that he would react this way. I never leave negative reviews but this left a sour taste in my mouth. The membership is $135/month! That was $135 that I did not account for for that month and it left me in a bind. I thought we had a good relationship at the gym but I guess money trumps loyalty and professionalism. Very disappointing.

Highly recommend kickboxing at Just Train if you’re looking for a fun, high-intensity work out. The trainers know their stuff, are encouraging and offer modifications for most exercises — so no matter your fitness level, you can still get a great workout! For me the group fitness format is much easier to commit to than going solo to a gym— it helps that everyone at JT is friendly and supportive and it’s not intimating like in big-box gyms. Sign up with a friend if you need that extra motivation— or you’ll make friends when you get there.

3 years ago I walked into Just Train and I never looked back. I had been going to another kickboxing gym maybe once every two weeks and I was so unmotivated. When I joined Just Train it felt like I was joining a family, and I was excited to go everyday that I could, and that feeling has never changed. It is my home away from home and it gave me the tools to be a healthier me! Since joining Just Train I have lost 30 pounds and have become so much stronger. During the Quarantine we quickly adjusted and started online classes (and challenges to keep ourselves motivated) and when the gyms opened back up Chris and the trainers made sure that the place was immaculate and that everyone had their own personal box to social distance in. I also recently started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have an amazing team of women and men that I have so much to learn from. If you are looking for a gym to get you into shape while also being a safe and happy place to come to, this is the only place I would ever recommend!

After working out on my own at big box gyms and not seeing the results I was hoping for, I decided it was time to join a gym that offered group training. Four years later and I am still working out at Just Train RI, kickboxing and lifting …

I’ve been a JT member for the past five years. I used to hate working out and the thought of gym culture, but JT and the trainers there changed my mind! The culture is friendly, and encouraging - beginners are welcomed and old dogs …

This gym is fantastic. There’s always a trainer in the class to ensure that I’m doing the workout properly. This way, I get the most out of my workout. I’ve been going here a year and a half and this gym has greatly improved fitness and therefore life in general. 6 stars.

I've been attending this gym for a couple years now, both fitness and martial arts classes. It's a great place, very laid back attitude, knowledgeable instructors, and welcoming people. Wide range of abilities, great for people starting out.
