Totally under-rated gymnastics academy. Great price and the most friendly instructors, and their communication with parents is unparalleled! My daughters learned so much and felt included. My oldest is very shy and was scared at first, but the amazing instructors helped her feel at ease around the other kids in her class, and she even made friends! I love that the classes are based on skill level rather than solely on age so they can progress more smoothly and actually learn in a more progressive minded way. We had to cancel when we moved away, but compared to other more predatory gymnastics academies, it was a painless process. I still recommend this place to anyone in the area looking to get their children into gymnastics. If we ever end up moving back, I will definitely be bringing my daughters here again!

iwent there a lot as a kid. i did MANY things there. preschool, gymnastics, tumbling, jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz, almost everything they have, honestly. I had my fair share of good instructors - but unfortunately most of them were bad. My preschool teacher was amazing, but everything past that was horrible. Nice people, maybe, but terrible at instructing. It was so, so physically demanding that it was ridiculous! they used to push me down really hard during stretches. A big problem with academy west dance/gymnastics teachers are they NEED you to be super flexible. If you are not super flexible, they are going to push. and push you HARD. oh, and don't forget, they'll make sure you get less parts in dances and routines BECAUSE you are not very flexible.Do better! especially to the kids who have disabilities.

I know she’ll love it just as much as I doDefinitely recommend this place

This is a long story but so worth the read! We absolutely LOVE Academy West! What they have done for our daughter I can hardly put into words. We were with another gym for 7 years and after the last year we needed out urgently. My daughter is 13 and we decided to walk away from the other gym. After months of mentally breaking down my daughter (and other gymnasts) we couldn’t do it anymore. We walked out 2 weeks before the state meet. The previous gym offered zero solutions or help, wouldn’t let my daughter finish out the season. We found Academy West from one of our meets with them, their girls were cheering for my daughters old team and their support for girls they didn’t even know was inspiring! We called Academy West knowing my daughter likely wouldn’t go to state, we were wrong! Academy West took her in, gave her private dance lessons, taught her a new beam routine, and an entirely NEW floor routine in 2 weeks! My daughters love for gymnastics is back, her passion and self confidence has returned as well! I truly didn’t think we could turn her around after the damage from the previous gym, but we’re headed to state confident that she will excel! As long as we live in Utah, we will be at Academy West!

I've worked with Academy West for over 4 years now and also worked with Courtney (their optionals coach) for many years before. They have been so positive and amazing. I can't say enough great things about everyone that works there. They are organized, great with the kids, personable and so friendly. I've always felt like this gym was my home away from home and see how happy the kids are.

I was just at academy west today to watch a gymnastics competition. The meet began at 3 and it was recommended for gymnast to be there 30 minutes early so we arrived early as well to secure a good seat( especially when I’m paying to get into the gym to watch) There were no seats available, and over 50 people were forced to stand for almost a 2-3 hour event. When we arrived we were assured that the amount of people was because of a previous meet and it would clear out and there would be enough seats. Not to mention the parking lot is horrendous and you have to park in literal mud. For how much gymnast families pay in gym fees/team fees it is disappointing that their hard work can not be enjoyed by their families.

Great staff that are really dedicated to the gymnast and their development. My daughter looks forward to her time in the gym every week. Solid development program you can see your child's skill level go up every week. Only draw back is that the gymnast get attached to the coaches and it makes it hard for them to move to the next level. This is only because of the level of attention your child will receive.

My Boy Girl twins attend the Tumbling Tadpoles and I can't express enough how much I love the class. Coach Tonya is wonderful with the kids. She does a fantastic job of teaching the students to have respect, taking turns, and following the rules. My children are truly learning from these these tumbling classes.

I basically payed $70 for my toddler to play on the equipment which I could have gotten at a park for free. I tried out one class at the Little Gym in Draper and loved it but this place was closer. The class structure at the Little Gym was great toddlers are super distracted but basically the teacher would show us how to do a trick than we would make our way to the station a practice it than once everyone went she went to a new station and trick. So my toddler ran and played but we learned something.I was expecting the same type of thing at Academy West. First class I got no direction nothing even though it was clear we were new. Finally I asked the teacher what I should be doing. She hands me a paper with a list of gymnastic moves on it. First I have never done gymnastics I don't know what any of these things are. Second how am I suppose to read a freaking paper while chasing a toddler around!?! So basically the only time the teacher just didn't stand around was when I had to specifically ask her to show me what to do with my toddler. And I never saw her so any other parents anything. I guess they just knew what they were doing. I gave it four weeks to see if it got better it didn't. I hear tell the older child classes are great but the parent/toddler classes are a total rip off take your child to play at the park instead.
