I saw Royce Gracie dominate the early UFC fights back in the 1990s. And I’ve been intrigued with Jiu-Jitsu technique ever since. Too bad I let life get in the way and did not join until just six months ago — at the age of 51.But who cares! It is so much fun. When I leave the mat, I have so much joy that it keeps me coming back. Sometimes four or five times per week. And this is from a guy who hates to work out. But here I am getting a great workout all while learning self defense. I should have done this years ago!Professor Nick has created a great school where everyone feels welcome (even old guys like me!). He’s our humble and hilarious black belt instructor/owner who really cares about everyone’s safety, progress, and having fun.Without reservation I’d highly recommend this Jiu-Jitsu school to anyone wanting to give it a try.

Came here for the kids jiu jitsu program. Brought in my son so he can learn to defend himself. He went from zero experience to being able to win a 1st place Gold medal at his first jiu jitsu tournament.I myself joined the academy to learn to defend myself. I have learned tons of techniques and I can confidently say, jiu jitsu has helped me in many ways including helping my fitness/weight loss journey. The professors are great, the team members were always so welcoming as well. No egos, just a place to learn and grow. This place also offers kick boxing classes which is an amazing class to supplement any workout routine. Definetly have learned alot here!

Our son has been training with professor Nick for almost two years. When he started at 14 he had no athletic experience and everyone there was very supportive and encouraging. Now he is doing tournaments and really grown in strength and confidence. I can’t say enough good things about professor Nick and everyone at the studio. They have been a second family to my son and us.

Finding this gym was by far the best thing that's happened to me in 2020. I've always wanted to learn and practice jiu jitsu because of the complex 3D chess game that it is, and when I came across a groupon deal to try it for a month, I saw it as a sign I should finally do it. I called the number that same night after hours to remind myself to call the next day to ask questions I had before going to my first class. Nick called me right back and we had a good conversation as I told him my background and what I was looking for. I felt very happy about the choice I made. Going to the first class I was excited and it was everything I hoped it would be. A warm up to stretch and instruction on a specific technique then drilling it to make sure each other person in class understands it. I went for the remainder of the month and became addicted. I can only go on Tuesdays and some Saturdays because I have a full time job and a new baby, but if I could go more, then I would. If you've ever thought about wanting to try jiu jitsu and you live within 25min, I recommend you try for the month because that's basically what I did and I only wish I could've done this earlier in my life. Nick is a good reasonable man, and he would probably refund you if you go for the first time and are completely turned off to the experience.I try to give honest criticism on here with pros and cons, but I literally don't have any cons. The other people I'm class are cool people and Nick even brings in higher level belts every now and then which is cool. They can offer more insight and show slightly different ways of thinking about the martial art that makes me appreciate it even more. 6/5 would recommend.

This is the absolute best Jujitsu gym I have ever been to. Best instructor ever, he is extremely professional at all times and is very knowledgeable. The gym is extremely clean and he offers private lessons for reasonable prices. The students safety is paramount and it shows. I have been with this gym for a few years and have only seen the upmost respect for all who walk through the doors. It’s a month to month gym so no high pressure contracts or sales tactics. If you don’t like what you are learning then there are no commitments.

I trained with Nick for about a year after I got bullied out of the line up surfing in Newport Beach. My confidence level went up 100% after training for just a few months. I became fit much faster than going to the gym and became more aware of my strength and a abilities which helped me overcome insecurities that previously kept me from defending myself. A year after training consistently I encountered myself in a similar situation where a man attacked one of my friends at a bar. I was able to submit the guy without any punches while security defused the situation. I am forever grateful for my time training there. I would continue to go to this gym if I was still living in the area! Osss

Came in for the first time last week and Nick and Brett made me feel at home. As a complete beginner the environment was great for learning and felt comfortable with the movements. Will be back for sure.

This is a great place to train and learn. As someone new to the area, I felt not just welcomed but the other students were eager to integrate me into their program. The owner, Nick, dropped what he was doing when I first arrived to address my questions and concerns. The training and workouts are great, but the environment alone is a greater reason to stay.
