Arlington Heights Park District offers a well-maintained fitness center and park environment. Located at 660 N Ridge Ave, Arlington Heights, IL, it features clean swimming pools with comfortable water temperatures, which many members appreciate. The facility also provides scenic views and relaxing opportunities with picturesque fountains and benches for reading.

Though the fitness center receives positive feedback, the registration process for certain children's programs and inconsistent scheduling cause frustration among some parents. The organization could improve by addressing these administrative issues to better serve working families.

The gym is really nice. I wish they had daycare so I could bring the kids with too but overall I’m very happy that we joined.

The registration process for children's camps discriminates against working families, it opens during working hours on a weekday and everything fills up immediately. You can't count on the park district at all as a family with two working parents. It could be solved with a simple lottery with some reasonable registration window, but instead they survey the families who already benefit from the process and leave it intact. The parks are nice, too bad the signup process is a disaster.

The gymnastics program is awful. Not sure where they find these kids to run it. My daughter learned absolutely nothing. I don’t think I ever saw anyone spot her or help her with anything.

I'm a mom of 4 andI have had nothing but horrible experience with getting and keeping kid dance classes with ahpd. I'm in district and even if I sign up 1st day to get in ...set my schedule around what was secured (I have 4 kids to manage ) they constantly cancel or move classes around, causing a domino effect on the balance of the schedules. As a former girl scout leader, my daughter had to miss 1 class a month on classes I paid for because this park district can't set a schedule and I planned the monthly GS meeting around her original weekly schedule. Today, they cancelled a course due to low participate enrollment 2 days before the first class date and now tell me to use Hoffman estates Park district offerings instead. Great, now I have to figure out how to get my child 20 miles to hepd on a weeknight during rush hour traffic in the opposite direction of my work. I know least 6 parents in same predicament. This has been going on for at least 5 years. The cultural arts supervisor is well aware of the stress it causes but can't seem to fix the poor enrollment problem and/or offerings. I thought it was baton, a slightly different than normal sport but lyrical ballet...same issue. Sign up based on offered printed schedule and a week later, they push the class times to combine.

Summer of 2016 myself and four young people went to all park locations in Arlington Heights. Some were facilities and we would walk in and ask for a tour. We were never turn down! Sometimes we would get lost trying to locate one and whoever answered the phone at the park district office would give us directions and landmarks. Great experience I highly recommend
