Finding a workout gym with the benefits of location, parking, Covid protections were all important no choosing hot works as my regular gym. Other gyms within close proximity did not offer What I was saying has significant benefits as well as the owners form of interaction, knowledge, high energy and owner focus on member satisfaction.During my visit, speaking with the franchise owner Directly, I voiced my concerns with regard to my own lack of familiarity or due diligence on the underlying use of science and technology behind HotWorx. In response to my concerns, the owner promised me a month to month membership and the option to leave at any time with no penalty. Because of Covid in so many gyms closed at that point in time I reasoned this set up, The owners personal Assurance and guarantee of no penalty in trying, and I desire to support a new local business, joining at that time worth the risk. What I did not know at the time of my joining was that it would be a musical chairs type of management on site during most of my visits to the facility. The manager of the Tuscaloosa hot works location often was there in the beginning of my membership period boat as the franchise owner got apparently closer and closer to the opening of her Trussville location, staffing was seemingly being picked and pulled from her Tuscaloosa and UAB locations to assist with the Smith opening of the third location, in Trussville. As a somewhat regular gym user by this time things began changing at the gym. At first a constant level of staff changes, (there was only one attendant so it was very noticeable) cleanliness, equipment wipe down, shower and changing area unkempt and lacking what I had come to expect which in the past had been customary supplies for the showering, Knobs missing for controlling speaker sound, less and less staff availability and Something I had brought to the owners attention during my initial walk-through with her was that there was exposed electrical equipment in close proximity to the shower, ineffective moisture removal in the showering area Which may or may not have been within code, the Open electrical equipment adjacent to running water and significant amounts of moisture began to concern me. I had mentioned my concern on 4 to 5 different occasions requesting a manager to contact me for the purpose of perhaps explaining the potential danger but definitely ensure a plan was in place to address this safety concern as use of the gym showering facility was growing. Additional deferred maintenance issues arrows and ignored giving the appearance of a lack of cash flow, based on my experience owning my own safety sensitive service business, this seemed the most likely scenario. With no return phone calls and a lack of responding to/cleaning up/maintaining the facility I made the decision to notify the staff of my intent to end my membership immediately prior to my Membership anniversary in the start of a new month and additional membership charge for the next month.I made s intent of giving notice of my termination of membership. With each attempt, the third attempt in writing end each with a request to speak with the franchise owner who I had only seen on one occasion during my prior month use of the gym (she was speaking with a staff member) as I stood nearby but not within earshot however the owner nodded in acknowledgment of my waiting to speak with her, she answered a cell call, terminated her conversation and left the building. The purpose of my wanting to speak with her-to voice my safety concerns and remind her of our agreement has not been afforded to this point.60 days later the owner, communicating through the location attendant denied her promise. She added I would be charged 2 Additional months, “per the contract.” This entire process resulted in five months of gym membership, unused and no loss of confidence in her keeping her word when she needed members. This saddens me even now.
