This place is like my daughter second home! All of the coaches and gymnasts are so welcoming and heartwarming! When it was our first day on team we were welcomed and we felt the happiest that we have ever! The coaches are so nice and my daughter felt looked after and happy! All of her teammates treat her like she is her sister! That all have a strong bond and connection! If you want a amazing happy environment, come to gem state!! If I could give this 1000000 stars I would! 100 percent recommend! ALL the coaches are like parents to all the kids they are sooooooo kind but also push them to their best. They not only have an amazing time a the practices but they do amazing at competitions! ALL the coaches treat each child the same, they have no (favorites). My daughter come home every day begging to go back she always tells me how fun she had and how she got SO many new skills and how all her teammates no matter what level support her in everything! This place is a nightmare from staffing to accounting. This place only cares about how their “higher level skilled girls” are doing. Unqualified coaches -know training or safety measures in place. If you want your kids treated poorly this is the place for you. The atmosphere is cold with no hellos or good jobs. More like stink eyes and don’t come back but please give us all your money. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Don’t get me wrong we gave this gym a good solid six-month trial but I should have gone with my “gut” and left the first day. Listen to your kids they are right. My daughter was in tears by the end of it!

Our girls joined Gem State as toddlers and joined their competitive team for 4 years now. Gem State is the best gymnastics gym in the Treasure Valley for competitive gymnastics. The coaches truly care about the gymnasts and prepare them to compete in the Treasure Valley, State-wide and Nation-wide.

My daughter participated in competitive gymnastics at Gem State Gymnastics for just shy of a year. While I would love to say that this was an overwhelmingly positive experience for her and for me as her parent, it was unfortunately far from it. The first and most glaring issue is the profound lack of patience and kindness in some of the coaching staff. This is meant to be an opportunity for young kids to learn a new skill and hone their ability if they so choose, yet my daughter was met with name calling and ridicule from a grown adult on the teaching staff. Coach Ashley was super helpful and loving towards the children; Coach Mekayla should not be allowed to work with kids. The coach to gymnast ratio is so far off that the nearly 3 hour practices seem like a waste of time and effort on the participants part because they don’t have adequate supervision or assistance to actually learn what we are paying good money for them to learn. My 10 year old daughter informed me that staff “gave up” on her learning certain maneuvers. There are some staff I can tell care about what they do, but others should steer clear from working with young children. My daughter was pushed to tears and anxiety before practice because she was fearful grown women on the teaching staff would make fun of her again. On another note, the administration of the gym is disappointing as well. My daughter was in a group photo shoot in downtown Boise in the freezing cold prior to the COVID 19 pandemic. Pictures were meant to be made available for all of the gymnasts to purchase. I have attempted to contact the gym on many occasions over the last year to no avail. I left many messages with front desk staff which were never returned. Even having direct contact with Tiffany, the owner, has proven to be fruitless as my emails have gone unanswered. My expectations are for my young daughter to be taught, doing a sport she loves and has a passion for, in a supportive, enriching, and fun environment. Additionally, as a parent and cheerleader for my gymnast (and a paying customer) my expectations are to be treated as a valued customer and not ignored. I can’t say this gym has met any of those expectations. My daughter has found another gym in the Boise area and fell in love immediately. The staff there are kind and generous with their time and support. I strongly encourage any parents searching for a gym for their aspiring gymnast to seek anywhere but Gem State.

Under New Management and still going strong. I feel good about my little going here for preschool, day camp and gymnastics. When she went to Kindergarten registration she was ahead in all areas. I attribute her school readiness directly to Mrs. Melissa. She adores her teachers. Ms. Teah has been amazing. I watched the transition from owners who were adored in the community to new owners and it went as seamless as possible. The school is structured and definitely wears out a hyper active child. She loves her friends and looks forward to going. I watch teachers love on kids when they are having a tough day and discipline them in a positive manner when a kid needs it. If you are reading these reviews to decide whether or not to bring your little one here, in my opinion they are in great hands and warm hearts.

I put my 7 yr old daughter here for summer camp this summer and she loves it! It was overwhelming at the beginning for both of us, but the staff are so good and organized that they know how to keep them busy and active. She does so much all day form crafting to swimming. My daughter passes out at bedtime every. Every staff member’s are so friendly and helpful!

My Fiance and I were members of the Adult Gymnastics Class for 5 months. We were excited to be a part of it, as gymnastics was something we had always wanted to explore. It quickly became apparent that the instructor wasn't up to the task. Every class followed the same formula of uninspired warm up, stretch, and "free time." We were never given drills to practice, and we were given little instruction. During this free time, the instructor would sit and chat with a few of the students while ignoring the rest of the class. Any requests for guidance were treated as rude interruptions into a private conversation, and the guidance that was given was vague. The teacher was incapable of demonstrating any of the techniques due to an adolescent injury, instead relying on an advanced student to show the rest of the class how things were done. There are talented instructors at Gem State Gymnastics, and when they participated in, or guest taught, the class we learned quite a bit. Unfortunately, none of their truly talented staff teach the adult gymnastics class.I attempted to speak with management on multiple occasions about this issue but was given wrong or disconnected numbers. Every time I called their mainline, management was unable to take my calls and never responded to my messages. This repeated behavior made it clear to me that management doesn't care about customer complaints. I can't speak for the quality of the other classes at Gem State Gymnastics, but the Adult Gymnastics Class, in its current form, is a waste of time if you aren't willing or able to teach yourself using their gym equipment.

A sad story....Last year, in 2014, I signed up for Gem State relying on its long-standing reputation as a great coaching facility for youths to acquire the skills associated with gymnastics: strength, focus, agility, flexibility, etc. I went directly to the staff, stating my son had special needs. He was diagnosed with ADHD and mild ASD. I openly discussed his issues and wondered if they could help him. The coach I spoke with, Ryan, no longer works there; yet, he told me the best coach to put with my son and it worked wonderfully. Not only that, but, when she was gone, my son still did fine in the classes. He was "spazzy," I won't lie. But, I was never spoken to about unmanageable behavior. This year, Sept 2015, we signed him up again, with no questions asked. I went 4 times (I could only see the last 15 min due to my work schedule. My mother takes him in the beginning.). I noticed a drastic change with the new coach / class. My son was constantly running everywhere, doing whatever he chose, all while being completely ignored by a bored-looking teenager.I finally questioned the office / head coaching staff. They assured me they would look into it. The next week, he had a great assistant in his class who did not let him rule the show. She put him directly in time-out at the first sign of disrespect and only let him return when he calmed down. The following week, the head-coach / mgr, Tammy, worked with my son's class. First she told me that someone would always need to be there to watch my son during class with the instructor. I assured her I could do that. The following day she called me and said they would no longer accept him because his size was bigger than the other kids in the class. The facility felt it was "too intimidating" to the other kids when he was frustrated and angry.I am not one of "those" mothers who is in denial of my child's issues. I am very well aware of his strengths and weaknesses. But, to expell, yes expell, an 8 year old boy with special needs, when you were asked if you could help? He did no physical harm to anyone, except himself (he hyper-extended his knee on the 1st day of class in 2015. Coincidence?). I was pretty heart-broken and disappointed with the situation. I know there are a ton of parents out there like myself looking for a niche for kids who are active, physically healthy, but do not play team sports so great. Gem State is not the answer.

My daughter goes to daycamp and preschool here. She is in love with this place and has been since day one. I have come at different times of the day and the staff is amazing! I can leave my kid here and not worry that she is going to be well cared for and content when I pick her up. She is always busy with activities and fun! The gym and school is very clean.

I am so glad that we found Gem State Gymnastics. We tried two other gyms before coming to here. After experiencing the negative atmosphere at the other two gyms I am incredibly grateful to have found Gem State. Every single one of the coaches that we have met at Gem State Gymnastics Academy has been very positive and kind to our daughter. Our daughter is in the cheerleading program here and has also taken gymnastics classes. Gem State puts a huge emphasis on making sure that the coaches make the classes a positive, self esteem building experience, and it shows. Our daughter's self esteem is rising, she knows that her coaches care about her and she is having an absolute blast there. The whole staff is down to earth and sincerely friendly. Their coaching is quality and they must be doing something right - because they sure win a lot of trophies. : ) Bottom line, they're great with kids here. I wouldn't go anywhere else and I think they're one of the best gyms in the nation. The only thing that's tough is that they are far away from where we live, but to me - they're worth the drive.
