I brought my daughter for a trial last night and am choosing not to enroll her. I wanted to take a moment to explain why, though, and please understand that this comes from a place of love and respect as I have an extensive background in gymnastics, coaching, and managing. I will start by saying my daughter loved her class and the recreational portion was fine. The coach she had did really well and seemed happy to be coaching, engaged with the kids in the class, etc. My concern is with team and some things I witnessed going on while we were there. It is my opinion that team sets the tone for the gym. The girls and their attitudes and behaviors create a culture in the gym that the younger kids in rec look up to and hopefully grow into if they love the sport and want to continue into team. While the coaches who were present had smiles on and spotted, gave corrections, etc, during the time they were on floor working on tumbling passes the girls were throwing pieces equipment in the air, running across the floor in the middle of other girls trying to take their turns, climbing all over the mats, one girl was laying on the large cheese mat in such a way that it was bending funny over the mat at the end of the tumble track (doing stuff like that with mats will damage them and cause them to break down a lot faster), multiple girls were on their phones during practice (while waiting in line for turns on floor, not during break time) and digging in their bags for chips, candy, and cookies, climbing over the barrier wall instead of walking around it, etc. There were also a few girls who were causing issues with each other and trying to get one particular girl in trouble. Going into gymnastics and finding a place for my daughter, those things really matter to me because it shows me my daughters future in that gym. Here, there just seemed to be quite a bit of disorganization and chaos. I would love to keep her in the class she tried because she did enjoy it, I’m just not convinced that what I saw from team is what I want my daughter growing into. I do understand it’s not a JO team, it’s Xcel which is less intense, but none of the above should be happening on any gym team in my opinion. I’m not sure that these concerns are a consistent issue or not but I felt compelled to share my perspective as someone with background in the sport. I wish this gym the best and hope my experience last night is not the norm.

Took my daughter here to try out gymnastics since it would be her first time. The place is extremely small and really unorganized. The “ instructors “ over looked my daughter multiple times because this was her first time ever.

EditAfter years and I mean years with GymStars my daughter had a devastating injury at a meet. She blew out her knee and needed two surgeries to fix it all and can’t compete for over one year. I understand that it happens but her coach nor team came to support her ever and that when my daughter cried herself to sleep every night I asked if she wanted to move gyms? She stated that she didn’t know but we tried out at another gym while still healing so not allowed to do anything but strength training upper body only. She was still going back and forth but when Andrea found out she was upset and kicked her off of anything team. We haven’t said anything to her because my daughter hadn’t made up her mind because she was waiting for her coach to even try to love her. She wasn’t giving up on them but they gave up on her. The experience has had her make the devastating decision to quit the one thing she has loved! She told me that Gymstars has ruined her life. She actually stated “it doesn’t matter, I never was enough in Andreas eyes!” “Everyone else was better than me anyways and Andrea only liked the older girls!” She did nothing about bullying and told jazzy to just be friends with them! She is always late and spends less time with the girls. Maybe she should get some real coaches that don’t quit or get fired monthly. We love Andrea and all of Gymstars! My daughter is on Team, and it has been fun and exciting for my daughter! Andrea is very helpful with explaining everything in detail to me. I am greatful for Gymstars! Andrea has shown my kiddo her full potential! She does tricks all the time that just blow my mind. All of the girls are like best friends, and they are super supportive of each other!! Andrea is an amazing coach!

This review is not intended to bad mouth Gyn Stars but rather to portray our experience for the past 6 years. My daughter started at Gym Stars back in the summer of 2016. We originally signed her up for one of their weekly gymnastics classes. After a few months she was invited to try out for team where she was asked to be on their bronze team following tryouts. She spent one year in Bronze, two in Silver, and now she is on her second year in Gold. The past two years have been where we have encountered the most issues.Evolving door of coaches: there is no consistency (besides the one or two coaches who have been there to teach the excel teams).Inconsistent schedule and lack of available days for practices when you have two working parents in the household.Extreme increases in tuition with short notice.Owner hardly available to discuss child’s progress, things she can work on whether it be at practice (if she is even there) and at meets.Lack of communication has also been a challenge. When told that there would be a schedule change at a team meeting and when asked a question about what working parents were suppose to do; I got yelled at for asking the question. The owner of this gym in my opinion has bitten off more than she can chew. When I drop/pick up my gymnast and there are friends of people who work there sitting at the front desk and the workers are paying more attention to their friend than the gymnast and or a non team class is taking up a majority of the gym making the team girls wait to practice on a certain apparatus, or leaving a gymnast on the floor alone at state leaving her to fend for herself I find it is time to move on. I wish the best for Gym Stars and only hope that the owner can realize these issues and try to better serve the customer.

Just an update on my review from two years ago. We LOVE Gym Stars and our coaches. They have continued to provide amazing care and instruction during a very trying time. Being able to have gym time has been a mental and physical blessing for our daughter. They are careful in their actions in keeping our kids safe. It’s very clearly stated when entering their gym... WEAR A MASK.Having two girls at two different levels we get to experience what Gym Stars offers on a large scale. Their coaches in all classes are amazing. The support and encouragement they offer each gymnast is unbeatable.

My daughter has been attending Gym Stars for 2 years, and on the competitive team for 1 year. She has grown so much as a gymnast with the help of the amazing and supportive coaches. They have a wonderful environment which encourages the gymnasts while still having lots of fun! We love Gym Stars!

If you're looking to get your kids into gymnastics, this is the place to be.Our four daughters (3, 6, 7, 9) went from, "What's a cartwheel?" to speaking fluent gymnast in a few weeks. They absolutely love it here and would go five days a week if possible. We've been coming for months. I haven't met the owner. Riley and the coaching staff are awesome, though! Front desk management always has this huge, welcoming smile on her face and greets each and every parent and kid coming through the door. The coaches' teaching styles vary - my girls have had the opportunity to learn from several different coaches, each with their own styles and skill sets. Although different, each is awesome and extremely patient (even with the 4-6 year olds!).The facility is great. It's hidden back in the executive center, so the traffic isn't too bad during the evening classes. There's also a pretty awesome coffee shop across the street (walking distance) that makes real fruit smoothies - relatively healthy way to treat your kids after working out for an hour. The prices are just right. We started with a Groupon that was priced perfectly to get us in the door. Once we "just tried it," we were hooked. My girls were literally reading after school upside down on their heads. My girls are stronger after a few months. More importantly, their confidence in their abilities has sky rocketed.*My* personal favorite part about Gym Stars is their monthly Parent's Night Out. For A VERY reasonable price - cheaper than a babysitter - we drop the girls off at 530 on Saturday night and pick them up at 930.It's my understanding Parent's Night Out consists of open gym, games, pizza, popcorn, and movies. I've also associated PNO with the opportunity to take my wife out on dates.A+ place! Call ahead to see if they're still offering one *FREE* class for you to just try.

We love Gymstars! Andrea and Natalie have shown my daughter her true potential and got her to push herself past her fears and doubt. She was in another gym for a year and she started to dislike it a lot because she felt she wasn't being challenged and here they challenge her everyday. And she loves it so much! She is now on team and she is so excited to be here with her team and teachers every class. They strive for kids to have fun and to also be their best and work hard. We definitely recommend Gymstars to anyone and everyone of all ages to come check it out!

I can't thank Gym Stars enough! I was beginning to loose hope, and slowly a bit of my Wildchild's spirit to another local Boise gym, but I am happy to say she is back, and tumbling about more than ever! The drama free environment you guys create is more than refreshing in the gymnastics community! My girl shows up and leaves with a smile, every single class. I have yet to see anything other than encouragement on the floor! The instructors are personable and fun and really seem to keep her engaged. I couldn't be happier with the new set of skills she is taking home from each class. Her flexibility and dedication have improved ten fold. In three months! Compared to a full year elsewhere. Thank you thank you thank you!I would also like to thank you for making the time we spend at gym stars affordable on me. Not only do I feel like my little girl is getting the best, but I can easily fit her classes into my budget. Affordable for me without impacting the skill level of training she is receiving, truly thank you.We both look forward to her class this week and many more to come! Thank you so much! :)

We came to Gym Stars because it was affordable and very personable; we'd been at another local gym for several years and our daughter didn't seem to be progressing. We've stayed for two years because Andrea and her team have continued to impress us, and we love the way the team girls support one another in all their gym goals. We used the Summer Camp this summer, and intend on using it again. Love this Gym, it comes highly recommended by our family!
