Mountain west is a one of a kind gym with amazing staff. The whole gym has great vibes and always gives a positive attitude. Staff really care about the gymnasts health and safety. My daughter has tried many gyms here in Boise. Rick and his team were the first to actually encourage and support her in her dream. She has learned some awesome life skills such as how to work hard for what you want . The staff also make it a safe place to dream. The Mountain West team is truly a great gymnastics family and we are very proud to be apart of it.

My daughter came to Mountain West Gymnastics as a level 10 after we moved across the country. She formally trained at a highly competitive gym in Ohio with some of the most knowledgeable coaches. To make a long story short, Rick Bonnell, owner and head coach at Mountain West, is the sole reason she quit and left the sport she so loved. I witnessed first hand as a coach at Mountain West how Rick degraded his gymnasts, gossiped about them and other coaches, and bragged about his mentors who are now banned from coaching gymnastics due to their abusive actions. I am so thankful my daughter and I both quit before there was too much damage done to both of us mentally. My daughter was able to regain the mental and physical strength she sadly lost under the training of Rick through the wonderful coach at her new sport. I highly caution anyone considering Mountain West Gymnastics- there is a reason for the reputation Rick carries in Idaho.

My daughter has trained at Mountain West for the past 5 years. Our experience has been nothing short of great! Her ability and love for the sport has increased every year. She has learned and experienced how hard work, perseverance, integrity, sportsmanship, and working as a team creates success - not just in sports but in all aspects of life. I would highly recommend Rick and his coaching staff. A team dedicated to helping their athletes grow into strong and disciplined individuals.

I was with rick and his coaching staff for over 5 years, before he started up his own gym, and I can honestly say he was the best coach I ever had. My experience last with him made me the person I am today. I am no longer a gymnast due to an injury during a tumbling pass, but this is no way reflected the coaching staff or their coaching abilities. I was a very successful and decorated gymnast and would highly recommend Mountain West Gymnastics to anyone who asked my honest opinion. I’ve been to almost every other gym in the valley and this is by far my top pick, due to the coaching staff.
