I was initially an online client with Starting Strength for about 2 years and was very happy with it. The eye opening change for me was joining Starting Strength Boise and experiencing the high level of coaching and personal attention. I have been adding weight to the bar and losing inches on my waist ever since. Whether you want to get stronger, a former athlete looking to get back in shape or just want to get moving again I cannot recommend Starting Strength Boise enough.

I have been following the starting strength program for sometime now on my own, using the books. I have been stagnating for awhile now. I'm not from Boise but when I came to town a month ago, I gave them a call to see if they could coach my lifts for a session. They fit me right in despite the fact it was the day of their grand opening and were busy getting ready. The coaching staff made some changes to my squat and deadlift. Their coaching was excellent and professional. They were extremely friendly and encouraging. The form changes and the programming tips allowed me to squat a new 5 rep P.R. and deadlift my PR when I was in my 30's. If you are looking to get stronger, please, please check them out. They will save you time through simplicity and and efficiency.

I joined Starting Strength Boise as soon as they started their pre-sale. I have been training using the Starting Strength method since 2013 and have never had the opportunity to train with an SS Coach 3x/week. I have trained one on one with some of the best SSCs in the system, but never on a consistent basis. Even after years of training and coaching on my own, the coaching staff at SS Boise were able to correct issues with my form and optimize my programming. I hit a PR on my deadlift at 435lbs for 6 reps and was on track to PR my other lifts before having to take a break due to a neck injury (from BJJ). I noticed the injury because my overhead motion was weak - in other words, without SS Boise I wouldn't have been aware of increasing weakness in my left arm. I went in for urgent surgery and now I am using the SS model to rehab. I would've had permanent atrophy and weakness had I not been training there. I started with a ten pound bar and after three weeks I'm now pressing the empty 45lbs bar overhead and on the bench. There simply isn't another gym in all of the Pacific Northwest that has this level of coaching skill, quality of gym equipment, or overall value - $28/session to train with a coach 3x/week is cheaper than any personal trainer in the area, and there is no way to get better/faster results. Great staff and great community. Five stars!

Skinny twerp to reasonably strong man. That's what Starting Strength has done for me. I've gained 35 pounds doing the Starting Strength program, most of which is muscle. I am now one of the strong guys in jiu jitsu - a comment I get regularly from my training partners - "wow, you're strong!"The coaching I have received at Starting Strength Boise has dialed in my technique and allowed me to stay healthy so I can pursue my grappling hobby. My body is ready for anything. I attribute that to the Starting Strength program and the coaches that have helped me grow.

I’ve been following the SS methods the best I could for about 4 years on my own as I dreamed and waited for a SS gym to open in Boise. The coaching here is fun and professional. I highly recommend this strength training method. These coaches are helping each of us get stronger and stay safe under the bar by teaching correct lifting techniques.Follow us on Instagram to see more about this.

I had been training barbell with their program at home for 6 months prior to visiting Starting Strength on their opening day here in Boise. My experienced friend had been helping me dial things in but I still had some form issues. Within just a single hour, John coached me through the lifts and opened my eyes to how to execute this program properly. I plan to continue visiting them in the future. When I first walked in, the entire staff was very friendly and everyone was eager to introduce themselves and welcome me there. My mom (age 56) also came to Starting Strength for her first time with the barbell and David was very good on coaching her. He took the time to address all her questions and concerns. They have several experienced and educated coaches ready and able to help anyone of any background and age train with barbells safely and effectively. I will recommend this place to anyone who wants to be healthier and increase their strength with the most effective method.
