After trying several other places for swimming lessons, we tried the Y at their old location and were very happy with the quality of instruction for youth swimming. Our girls have enjoyed their lessons (the lap pool can be a bit cold for our kids) but their instructors keep them moving. We look forward to resuming lessons in their new facility when it opens again. (The workout area is also really nice in the new location).

Would get a membership if the child care hours weren’t so horrible! Thank you for completely ignoring the needs of working parents!

Nice place, cool employees. Loooots of ego lifting: for the record I don't really care if people grunt or wanna get big or are hardcore , w/e. But slamming down equipment (even barbells) RUINS it. So employees please enforce the slamming weight rules ! There is no reason as to why they cant be somewhat gingerly about it , tune it down bros'

With seven years of daily workouts behind me at the Burlington Family Y, I can say in good faith that the staff and all that they do for their guests and members is first rate!

If you’re a YMCA member in good standing and need a place to workout when you travel, stop by the Greater Burlington YMCA (on the corner of College St and S.Union Street). Didn’t include pictures from the inside but they have an excellent lap pool as well as weights (free and Cybex type circuits) as well as cardio equipment. The staff is very helpful and great at getting you set up in the system if you’re from out of town. They do not have a parking lot so you’ll have to use a meter (25 cents for 15 minutes) or find a parking lot that doesn’t charge you for the first two hours.

I went to the YMCA during the winter of 2013-14. I then stopped going and assumed since I had paid my balance ahead of time that my bill was satisfied. This winter I went back to renew my membership and I was told I had a balance of $20 from the previous year "because you have to give a 30-day cancellation notice." I said that I would gladly pay it and I was surprised nobody had sent me a bill or attempted to call me. They said that "because of people not paying their bills" I was now required to use a bank account instead of cash to pay my membership fees. I refused as I prefer to use cash at places with questionable security standards. I contacted the director, Jaime, to see if she could make an exception. She offered to transfer me to the billing department as "she does not handle these types of things." I said yes please and instead she disconnected the call.To summarize: The reception staff were not knowledgeable or helpful. The YMCA is silly to expect me to enter my bank account information into their computer system for a $20/month membership fee. The director apparently was incapable of handling my issue and instead of transferring me ended the call. I am deeply dissatisfied. I wouldn't expect much from a cheap public gym, but the Burlington YMCA has managed to surprise me with their low quality of customer service.
