This is a great location if you plan on using the pool or basketball courts. As for the gym area, it's really small and limited. I frequent here just because of its proximity to where I live, but even just more than three people in the gym area at a time makes it feel crowded and fighting for space/equipment. It feels very outdated and stuffy, and closes pretty early-- 5 pm on a Saturday! There's also a lot of activities in the club like classes where young kids are hanging around, and I sometimes see them playing around on the equipment without attendance (which is both unsafe and distracting). The staff is always nice but maybe could be more attentive in this aspect.

Tennis viewing is the most glaring problem, but I pray that someday they move the treadmill room and make it into a nice viewing area for tennis. This is at the Kennedy location. Otherwise I love the edge!

Ive been going to the Edge of Essex for years now. Overall it's ok, but barely. The things they have that keeps me coming back are: the sauna, indoor track, yoga classes, basketball court and the general friendly environment. So basically the things that other gyms don't have at least not in this combination. Now for the bad: locker rooms are very poorly designed, rundown, and extremely cramped.Exercise machines are outdated and often out of order. For example, the spin bikes in the main workout area could be broken for months with no attention. Sometimes that's all I wanna do is spin and the seat will break off or there will be really loud annoying squeaking noises when I'm peddling. My membership here is very expensive and the ONLY reason I keep it is for the extras.Otherwise, if all I was doing was weight lifting, this gym would not be worth it. Planet fitness has better machines, cleaner, and much, much much cheaper. But no one beats the Edge when it comes to the extras. One thing though, if you like basketball, and want to play, often times you cannot because they have exercise classes in the gym. It's very annoying and I cannot see why they can't use one of their studios to do these classes.I can't use a studio to play basketball. That is the only place I could play basketball in the building. They could have these classes somewhere else if they plan it right.I feel a 3 out of 5 is more than fair until they make some improvements. If the membership price was half, I'd give it a 5 star and consider you are getting what you are paying for. But they charge top dollar so you better believe I expect more from them than an "ok" experience!

Best gym circuit in the greater Burlington, VT. area!! Multiple locations which your membership allows you to access all of them whenever you want (as long as they are open). Don't even think about paying for another gym, unless your budget only allows you Planet Fitness, The EDGE is not cheap! But well worth it if you can spend the money!

It is an old and tired facility. I only go for the pool, which is often warm and crowded. Their website doesn't stay up to date and pool availability is only available on paper at the gym instead of online since "nobody manages it and it could change." It is the only place to swim though.

Basket ball courts. Pickup games Monday Wednesday Friday 11-1. Great lap pool, hot tub, kids pool. Tennis courts. Not the best spot for exercise machines tho.

Great facility. Gym equipment could use a little updating and more parking would be great. Tennis courts and pools are excellent.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's a small gym, which means a human answers the phone and not a recording. Since it is small, it fills up fast during peak times. The pool is set at 82 degrees. It feels chilly when getting in, but fine even when walking. The hot tub, though, is set at 108 degrees. Literally, less than 3 minutes is what I can tolerate before turning red as a lobster. (At the Morse Drive one, it is set at 102, which I can tolerate for nearly 20 minutes.)The facility is clean. The women's locker room is air conditioned at a cool 70 degrees. That temperature is quite chilly coming in from the pool, but still worth it! There are a doctor's scale, blow dryer, lockers, 2 private changing rooms, a sauna and larger showers with two sections for your convenience. When you enter, there's a curtain where you can hang your towel, your own shower products, bathing suit, etc. and an interior curtain where the shower area is. Unfortunately, there is only one shower for someone with disabilities that has an adjustable showerhead and tub chair. There are four handicapped spaces and a wheelchair ramp. However, the doors have no automatic door openers. With two single doors to enter, that can be very difficult with a wheelchair or other assistive device. The facility is one level overall with a wheelchair ramp into the pool area. The pool area has no hoist, though.I like this place. That said, it is NOT handicapped friendly. It is because of that that I rated it only 4 stars.

The membership is expensive on its own. Additionally, most organized activities cost more money. The facilities need updating. The pool air and water quality are often poor. Each facility has its own policy for reservations, some consistency would be really helpful.

Hours are not convenient! Call ahead to see if what you want is available. Pools periodically closed, hot tubs shut down, lover rooms closed with very little notice. …
