A really great facility. Clean, state of the art equipment. The best gym I've been in. I don't know why people complain about parking. It is a 10 minute walk to two massive church street garages and it is on a bus route. Maybe the people complaining don't know that they can park in a garage and walk ten minutes.

Cleanest, most up-to-date Y I've ever been to. There's a variety of equipment, a pool with a sauna, three large studios that are almost never busy, and a b-ball court. It's also a very friendly vibe and pulls in one of the most diverse crowds I've seen in Burlington. With regards to some of the complaints in the other reviews: yes, it can get busy particularly when UVM is in session, but honestly I haven't had to wait more than 5 minutes for a piece of equipment more than a handful of times in the year and a half I've been going, and when I have there's plenty of mobility/stretching/accessory equipment to keep me occupied until, say, a bench frees up. And yes, there isn't a ton of parking right by the door but there's plenty of street parking within a block or two. At the end of the day, there aren't any other gyms in Burlington that provide the amount of variety, cleanliness, and friendly community that the Y does - I hardly think limited parking and five minutes added to a workout are dealbreaking cons when weighed against those pros.

The exercise classes for seniors are great! Yes, parking is a problem, but you can park in the Market around the corner. Or walk or ride your bike.

I rarely visit the place due to the parking situation. Despite this, I maintain a membership because my family enjoys family swim time, although it's the only time we go. To ensure we're on time, we have to arrive at least 30 minutes early to allow for parking and avoid any delays.

This place is a joke. A place where you can’t do heavy deadlifts is not something I called a gym, constant argue and discussion from the PTs working there when I did deadlifts that it’s too loud since they have some kind of “no drop” policy. (I never dropped the weight btw, I put it back gentle) but of course it will be some sound when you lift 400 pounds from the ground. If you can’t handle that then don’t call yourself a gym! This was a place for “families” they told me, so I am not a part of a family or what? Sad because they had platforms for deadlifts but you are not allowed to do them unless it’s super light weight that makes no sound 🤷♂️That’s fine but then inform that before signing up people. At least the owner was friendly and gave me my joining fee back! Also, Always overcrowded so takes away all the joy of training.

Little kids still have to wear masks for playing in the gym.

Need to cap membership. Far too many UVM students at any given hour despite them having Hutchinson gym

Good equipment, but it’s way to crowded. Definitely canceling my membership due to parking. More than half of the tiny parking lot is dedicated to preschool parking leaving no room for their members who come to work out to park in their lot. In addition on street parking is busy and usually metered or resident parking only. But the worst part of my experience here was being yelled at by a YMCA employee named Tony, enforcing parking who issued me a $65 ticket after me being parked 5 minutes too late in a preschool pick up spot. After noticing the ticket I asked him about how to appeal or lessen the ticket, only to get screamed at. If I were you I’d avoid any interactions with the parking employee named Tony unless you like getting screamed at.
