Love the gym and working out here but don’t understand managements renovations. They got rid of old equipment just to buy newer versions of the same stuff from the same brands but reducing the amount of equipment that we had originally. This doesn’t make sense when a big issue with arc is that there’s not enough strength equipment yet they replace good equipment with good equipment just significantly less of it.

It keeps bugging me that whenever I sign in with my icard and university id as a current student they ask me to pay for the membership for any free program open to the students. I sent several emails to several addresses a long time ago, and sill I have got nothing but this annoying sign "ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED". So unprofessional. How active do I have to be to get one free class for students?

Very unprofessional place. They ask students to pay membership fee for summer to use pool. Then they closed the pool without giving notice to anyone. You come to pool after paying your parking fee then they kick your from there because some team needs to swim.

everything you could want in this gym. quite expensive over the summer and/or if you’re not a student anymore

Amazing gym and facilities but the times and schedules are the worst ones for students and personnel of the university. Never tried to provide decent night times specially during summer.

Great badminton courts and swimming pools. The outdoor swimming pool is particularly nice with a variety of floats. Students can sponsor a guest for daily access.

An awesome place to workout at the University of Illinois. My mother literally said a gym at a University looks like the United Union because of these flags on the wall, hahaha.

They charge separately for the ID card needed to access the facility. The way it works is you sign up for the membership, pay for the membership, and they tell you to go to a different building to have your ID card printed. Then you get to the ID center and they charge you a second time! I've never seen such a thing. It's like if you bought $100 concert tickets online and then after you checked out there was a separate $10 transaction to be allowed to print them. Also, the summer hours are quite short. They are not open early mornings and the pool closes quite early. As maybe can be expected from an organization that is mainly funded by student fees and not from voluntary customers, they are not very customer-service-focused.On the plus side because there are still some covid changes in place for now, the free weights have been moved to the basketball courts so you have a lot more room to do free weights than you used to! But it sucks if basketball is your thing.
