Professor James and the other coaches are all very credible and approachable making the school a real family-friendly environment regardless of age and background. Behind the scenes is Cassie Martin who does amazing at keeping track of things and running the logistics of the school!

This is the place to train in the Champaign and surrounding area. The classes and instruction are top notch, the team is amazing and respectful to one another. Everyone is there to help you get better and find enjoyment in the sport. If you want to be a competitor or hobbiest you will find what you are looking for.

I cannot say enough positive things about Lycans Den. This gym has some of the toughest competitors in the CU area and not to even mention the awesome kids program. I personally cannot wait until my kid is old enough to be a part of this awesome family

Lycans Den has given me the home I didn't know was accessible in Champaign and Urbana. The instruction is VERY high level and, the quality and diversity of training partners is even better. If you're looking to learn jiu jitsu for self defense, this is the place. If you're looking to compete, this room will push you to your limit. They have five or six black belts in the room and they're all more than willing to spend the time with you to help understand any technique, before, during, or after class.

Been training with James for five plus years. He’s a great instructor. The environment is friendly, safe, and supportive. Class is typically broken up for those who want to learn and drill and those who want to roll hard. Highly recommend for both the beginner and expert.

Lycans Den is THE place to train if you want to learn high level jiu jitsu in Champaign/Urbana. The training room is also one of THE hardest. Not only that, but the instructors and teammates are extremely friendly and helpful! highly recommend
