I have trained many places as I travel for work. Butch and the guys there are great at what they do and at passing on there knowledge to others. They are always helping and teaching others. Great atmosphere and many different classes are available.

Lisa runs the best cardio kickboxing class around. She always makes sure to recognize new and returning members and makes each workout one to remember. There is nothing but positivity in that gym, and I always leave in a great mood.

Have been there for just over a month now. I came in with zero BJJ experience and it has been awesome. Butch and everyone else have always been patient and willing to show/explain anything I've ever asked. Aside from that, they're just a good group to be around and make each class fun.

If you have any reservations about martial arts or getting in shape DONT!!!!! Butch Hiles and his professional staff are top notch and will put you on a path to reach your goals whatever they might be. I personally trained under his tutelage for years until work obligations forced me to move but I can honestly say it was the best times of my life. Not only did I learn jiu jitsu and Muay Thai kickboxing but I got a lifelong friend and mentor. I couldn't recommend advance bkj enough!!!!!

I’ve trained under this gym and affiliation for 10-11 years I’ve always loved this gym and the people who have been my training partners and my family couldn’t ask for a better gym to train under! Also some of the best teaching from butch and other instructors there.

I roll under Professor Hiles as an affiliate from Weirton, WV. We make periodic visits down to Butch Hiles Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & MMA. Professor Hiles is the real deal, and his martial arts resume speaks for itself. You would be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable, competition proven, or genuine instructor anywhere.You walk in, and you can tell you’re not dealing with a Mcdojo. If you’re looking for glitz, glamor, oversized trophy’s and medals to speak of the school's accomplishments, you may have walked into the wrong place. Although Professor Hiles and his students are as decorated as they come, his staff and students would much rather show you how talented they are, then show you large pieces of plastic and marble.Unlike a lot of other schools were getting a stripe or a belt is a mystery and often in the head of the instructor, at Professor Hiles school the curriculum is laid out for you. It is for this reason you can believe that his staff, instructors, and those with belts and stripes know their stuff and have proven it.If you are interested Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai, or just want a place to work out and get in better shape this school is a one-stop shop, and I highly recommend it.

This is a 5 star gym located conveniently in downtown Charleston. All the instructors are legit and will at anytime provide you their credentials and who to verify them with. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing fake about this gym.
