Incrediblely talented instructor. Structured learning, on schedule, and to the point.

The environment here is super laid back, very chill and not pushy at all. The students have been extremely hospitable during my time training here as well as the professor, Mickey. The colored belts represent themselves and their skill level well with a methodical controlled jiu jitsu. There is a large variety of ranks present which gives a good variety of training. Looking forward to more time on the mats with these guys.

Great place to train. It does not matter if you are a black belt with 15+ year or a white belt taking your first class. The instructors are very down to earth while the other students are very welcoming.

The instructor is amazing, especially with the kids. Several families travel almost an hour each way (driving by many other martial arts studios on the way) to train with Mickey.

My husband and I visited Chattanooga JiuJitsu Academy while in town for Thanksgiving, and had a great experience. The instruction was very thoughtful and well-delivered, and Professor Mickey took the time to correct us and give us tips that were personally useful. Having dropped in to gyms all around the world, I can say that if I lived in the area, I would enjoy training here. When rolling at the end of the class, I had great partners—both men and women—who were interesting, technical, friendly, and respectful. Thanks for the great training!

I've been training here regularly for about 7 months and I enjoy every class. I've seen people of all ages train here, from kids to seniors and every age in between (men and women), everyone is respectful and helpful, from the instructors to the students. There is something here for every skill level regardless of your athletic ability. From the hardcore to the casual. I wish I would have signed up sooner.

Before I started training at CJJA I asked some advice from a friend and he said make sure the main instructor has trained with legit people. When you walk into the place you will see pictures of Mickey working with the Gracie Family. Mickey has created an amazing environment that promotes longevity in his students. Recently on a random Tuesday night we had 3 black belts walking around giving tips and correcting technique. You can find gyms that don't have A black belt period. CJJA is a place where anyone can train and expect to be treated with a sense of respect and friendliness. Also, no one there takes themselves too seriously, which is nice.

This school focuses on techniques that are applicable to real world street survival. The staff is friendly and work great with my kids. They teach techniques for defusing confrontations and bullying in school. It's also great for them to have the opportunity to learn from an instructor who's studied under the family who pioneered Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the Gracies.
