As a member for more than 5 years, I cannot say enough great things about this gym. The coaching staff is second to none, and it's special to go to a place where you know there is a limitless supply of knowledge as you personally progress. The coaching talent is only matched by the incredible community they have built. If you're on the fence, I'd highly recommend stopping in.

I dropped in at CrossFit Defined for the first time exactly a year ago. I randomly googled for a CrossFit gym near the Airbnb where I would be staying while visiting Chicago. I never expected to come across such an incredible group of people. You are offered not only CrossFit, but all kinds of classes, I’ve tried them all and enjoyed them all. You have all kinds of coaches, I’ve met them all, loved them all, and learned so much from each of them. You meet so many people with different levels of experience/fitness and everyone is always open to partnering and working out with you. It’s an amazing community. I keep coming back to Defined when I’m in Chicago, and even when I’m not staying anywhere nearby, I now make the trip to come train here. Now that I’m 33 weeks pregnant and struggling to find the energy and motivation to stay active, knowing that I’ll find great programming, coaching, and friends that will gladly adapt to my current needs makes it a lot easier to get my butt to the train station and go workout and have fun. Crossfit Defined became a welcoming home from day 1.

You all have made my experience at the gym amazing because you really do stand for what you preach and you are MORE than a gym. I've never been to a CF gym where there are multiple coaches walking around- making sure form is perfect, spirits are high, and each person is working to their fullest potential. Basically you all are doing it right :)

I have been coming here for 7 years and it is the most incredible group of coaches. When I started I had absolutely no muscle and the coaches were great about meeting me where I was and helping me improve at my own pace. I never felt weak or looked down upon. If you’re looking for a change in your fitness routine or starting from scratch this is the place to be.

I took a chance on something new - and have been deeply rewarded!I'd heard about CrossFit for years but had been too scared to try it out. I was never an athlete growing up and hadn't found a fitness routine that worked for me as an adult. I wanted a place where I could learn the proper way to lift heavy weights, with coaches that were patient enough to guide me and teach me the complex movements even if I wasn't "getting it" after a few tries (huge props to Coach Igor for working with me endlessly on my deadlift form).CrossFit Defined has been the perfect place for me to get started on my CrossFit journey. I've only been a member since January but have come to love everything about this gym: the workouts, the coaches, the community, and everything the gym stands for. I'm loving how much strength I've gained with each passing week, and the changes I'm seeing and feeling in my body as a result.Trust me, if you've ever even thought about joining a CrossFit gym: do it! And do it with CrossFit Defined!

Joining defined was the best decision I have made during this pandemic. I have been working out at a gym for a couple of years, but got stuck in the same old routine, working out besides people who mostly fend for themselves. At defined I have learned new skills, gained more confidence, and most importantly I feel as a part of a team. I’m hoping to built constant and close friendships and that I become a strong athlete. The coaches are wonderful, supportive and never too busy to answer any of your questions.

The coaches at Crossfit Defined are the lifeblood of this gym -- all are extremely knowledgeable and always have tips and suggestions to improve form, even if you've been lifting for years. They are always organized, on time, and on the same page, and though the space is small and class sizes large, there are two coaches per class to help keep things moving along. The strength focus here is great with a popular powerlifting program, and plenty of strength programming in the main classes, along with a variety of other class options like conditioning, OLY, kettlebells and strongman lifting.Take this as you wish, but Defined is the least internally competitive gym I have ever been to, with no leaderboards.

I started CrossFit after following the sport as a spectator for about 6 months. I researched a lot of gyms and Defined already felt like my type of place without even setting foot in it. I went to sign up with Coach Cara and she enforced my good first impression. The Foundations class is a good start, even for someone like me with moderate experience with weight training. Unfortunately the fun was cut short by the pandemic but having been back now for three weeks, I will be a member for life - or at least as long I live in Chicago! All the coaches are great, with very different personalities that suit the classes they run perfectly. Other members are generally very nice and welcoming, even towards newbies 🙂Being able to choose from different styles of classes is nice and brings variance to your week. The raffle for free membership is also a nice touch. The Zen Planner app allows seamless booking of classes and makes it easy to plan your week ahead.

Dropped in here and was impressed! Lots of CrossFit gyms vary in terms of quality of coaching/warmup/direction etc. The class was well organized, and the coach explained proper form and technique for each part of the WOD, offering scaling options (up and down). Facilities were spacious. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Every time I travel to Chicago, I drop-in at CrossFit Defined. It's been two years already. I've been to more than 25 different boxes in the US and I've never felt so good in none of them as I feel in CFD. When I say that it feels like home, I really mean it. It's impressive how passionate they are about doing the best for their members and visitors, regardless of race, gender or any other type of difference that might exist. This is beautiful and priceless. The owners are extremely committed in providing excellence and coaches are well certified and engaged with the box Core Values.
