I am blown away at the success of Sarah Crawford’s hard work in taking the leap to start a PT business on her own and quickly follow her vision, growing it into the thriving Wellness Center it is now. I am in such good hands physically and mentally with such a talented collection of smart, accomplished and truly friendly professionals all inside of Anchor Wellness!

Until recently I had been running approximately a 5K distance for 10+ years, on my own, with no coaching or guidance. My pace had plateaued several years ago and has slightly declined over the past few years which I had attributed to age (I’m 41).In the past, every time I had been in really good shape and had tried to push my maximum pace I got injured. I have been plagued with piriformis syndrome (a relatively common running injury) which would flare up every time I would try to push my maximum pace. I had always felt that I would be able to run much faster if I could avoid getting injured.I decided I was stuck in a rut and ready for a change. I wanted to try to train for a marathon, but decided it would be best to get some help rather than doing it on my own. I joined a local running group (The Amateurs) and couldn’t have been happier with the team and the head coach. The head coach directed me to Jackie Sanders for physical therapy help with my piriformis syndrome problem and an injury that I sustained to a tendon in my leg. During my first appointment Jackie used needle therapy around the area of the injured tendon (similar to acupuncture) and the pain was completely gone the next day. During the visit I could tell that Jackie had deep and intuitive knowledge of the body and how it translates into running She is also professional runner, which gave me confidence in her analysis and opinions. I thought the pain alleviation was incredible, and I had experienced something so drastically positive in a medical setting (without the need to prescribe drugs).I decided to have another visit with Jackie so she could perform what she called a “gait analysis” of my running form. This involved video capture of me running on a treadmill in her office. Next she went over frames of the video with me in order to evaluate my running mechanics and identify problems with my form. The biggest problem that she identified was that I was running too upright, without enough forward lean. She explained this was causing my foot strike to occur in front of my body which was causing my foot to act as a break, resulting in inefficiency. She also suspected that the improper foot strike was causing the piriformis pain. She recommended I try running in more of a forward lean position so my foot strike would occur underneath me rather than in front of me. She explained that while in the forward lean position I would be using more of my larger glute muscles instead of the smaller muscles in the piriformis area. The next time I ran, I tried running in the forward lean position as she suggested and the result were (once again) incredible! It felt as though I was running with less effort. It actually felt like I was running slower than the pace was showing on my watch, the feeling of being able to run faster and more efficient with less effort was profound. The piriformis issue has been alleviated, as Jackie suspected it would, and I now have drastically reduced pain and tightness in that area.

I was referred to Dr. Samantha Dove by my dentist for TMJ issues. Dr. Dove has been able to address my TMJ issues to drastically reduce the resting tension in my jaw, neck, and shoulders. I have also suffered from chronic headaches for years. The muscular work Dr. Dove has done to address my TMJ issues has also resulted in a decline in the quantity of my headaches. Her goal is to establish a new baseline where you’re tension free. She has taught me a variety of exercises to implement at home prior to and during periods of stress. I would highly recommend Dr. Dove if you’re experiencing any TMJ issues.

Dr. Samantha Dove is wonderful! She helped me with nerve pain in my leg. She is very thorough, listens to her clients and is responsive both during the sessions and with any follow up questions. She is highly skilled in so many different techniques that she can approach any problem from multiple angles. I highly recommend her.

I visited Anchor Wellness Center for the first time last week after following the business on IG for some time. I have spent countless hours seeing other specialists and none of them took the amount of time and patience Dr. Koehl took to with me. Within two days she had sent me a treatment plan and follow up email, instead of a rushed visit and a superficial diagnosis - I feel I am finally on the right track to healing. As a small business owner I feel we need more providers like Sarah and Anchor that work in treating the WHOLE person, not just the symptom.

Running is something most people “just do”, but most are never taught the proper mechanics. After 17 years of running and chronic hamstring issues (and adjusting my running form to compensate for the injury) I went to Jackie for a gait analysis. What a great decision! Post analysis, many aspects of my running form were tweaked, she added stretching of my hips and hamstrings, strengthening of my lower body and balance exercises to my routine. She also incorporated dry needling into our therapy sessions, which really helped with the healing of my hamstring. Her expertise and her commitment to help me reach my running goals were a great combination. I highly recommend anyone seeking to overcome a running injury or wanting to improve their running form make an appointment with Jackie. I only wish I had found her sooner!

My primary care doctor told me about Dr. Crawford and I'm so glad she did. Dr. Crawford is very skilled. What she has created at Anchor Wellness is amazing. I don't hesitate to pay out of pocket for any of the practitioners because they get to the source of issues quickly and don't just treat symptoms. Dr. Dove has helped me with back pain and a foot fracture. She is so kind and caring. Dr. Koehl creates ease in what could be a very awkward experience. (Who knew pelvic health PT was even a thing?!) Libby is a very intuitive and medically-oriented massage therapist. She always makes sure you feel comfortable. I really appreciate the holistic care I receive, no matter who I see.

Dr. Samantha Dove has provided excellent physical therapy treatment for a TMJ-related issue I experienced. With a combination of dry needling, manipulation, and a prescribed stretching regimen, she efficiently enabled complete resolution of the issue and the associated pain. Her patient-centric, caring, and pragmatic approach is rare and greatly appreciated! I highly recommend her.

Let me start by saying that I am beyond impressed with Anchor Wellness. I went there for physical therapy for a knee injury that I worried needed surgery. Dr. Dennis Mirosh was able to assess my injury and have me back to exercising at the level I'm used to in about a month!! I only had to go once a week and then do the exercises he recommended. All of the therapists there have their Doctorate degrees so the level of education and experience is impressive! I'm so grateful for Anchor and Dennis! I recommend them to everyone I know!

My daughter worked with Cindy Cassell to come up with a nutrition plan that would help her manage the caloric demands of an elite athlete. Cindy took the time to explain the "why" behind her recommendations-even throwing in a little chemistry lesson that my high school daughter could relate to. It was important to me that Cindy focus on a healthy relationship with food and create a plan that included foods that a teenager would eat. I was very happy that there was no mention of "cheat meals" or "bad foods". My daughter received a detailed binder of information, including meal and snack ideas, articles about athlete nutrition, and a detailed look at her current calorie intake, upon which she built her recommendations.Cindy has a depth of knowledge that was evident within the first seconds of our consult. She is passionate about nutrition and educating the athlete. Hands down one of the best things I could have done for my high school athlete daughter.
