I have trained for 19 years. In town visiting Fort Jackson and stopped in for open mat. This gym has a couple of great things going for it. You will be welcomed as family when you walk through the door. The technique is top notch, and every belt level is very proficient. Highly recommend going here. I will be coming back.

Best martial arts school in Columbia hands down!Instructors are professional and instruction is top notch. Everyone I have met here has been very welcoming and encouraging. Adult (and kids) classes are run very well.Would highly recommend to anyone looking to try BJJ for the first time, or those looking to continue on the journey.

i am from columbia and started training bjj in 2010. i know several of the black belts here as i used to train with them. whenever i come home to visit my parents i try my best to make time to come to deep waters as they have an early AM class that suits my schedule. I couldnt ask for a better school to train at when i am away from home. The instruction is great and no one trains with an ego, they just want to make themselves and their training partners better, which is a top quality in a gym that i prefer. i would encourage every one who trains or wants to train to check out Deep Waters!

Deep Waters Jiu Jitsu welcomed me in while in town for my son’s Army graduation. They were all courteous and good sports even though I didn’t have my Gi. Great training and highly recommend if you are in Columbia or traveling through.

The instructors at Deep Waters are the true standard of martial artists. This school is full of practitioners with many years of experience. There are several black belts that train there who have created an incredible environment and team atmosphere that’s welcoming to people from all walks of life. I can not say enough good things about this place. There are two things I can promise for anyone who begins training at Deep Waters:1. You will get really good at Jiujitsu.2. Our daughter has been taking classes twice a week for 2 months now and absolutely loves going. The instructors do an incredible job with the kids. They balance the perfect amount of patience, structure, and challenge. Can't say enough good things from our experience.

I am here on vacation from Outer banks, NC. Emailed the gym ahead of time and got a very friendly and welcoming response to come on in when I was in town. I dropped into the open mat from 9-11 got there about 10 o clock. Was greeted right away and set up with a waiver, and was able to get right to rolling. Long story short, this gym was very welcoming, friendly, and a great place to gain some experience. There were no egos, no aggressive rolls or people ripping subs. I got a chance to roll with almost everyone there, they were also helpful in teaching me what they got me with and how it was set up. Over all amazing group of individuals, military and prior military, helpful and high energy with a great family atmosphere. I definitely recommend training here if you are in the Columbia area. I will definitely be back as soon as possible.
