Equinox Highland Park in Dallas promises premium services but often falls short. With a spacious layout and clean facilities, it offers top-tier amenities like a saltwater pool and eucalyptus towels that many members love. However, frequent reports of outdated equipment, unreliable air conditioning, and poor management tarnish the allure. The high membership cost also doesn't justify the experience for many, leading to frustrations among its clientele.

I walked in to an appointment fully convinced this was going to be my next gym. The lady for my appointment had left early, I decided to wait for the next rep., I waited at least 30 minutes in the lobby just to be told that there was absolutely no one to help me out, not even a tour. I was appalled as to why a gym wouldn’t have any sales reps ready to go at 6pm during the week. As someone that has done sales before, I would have jumped at someone wanting to sign up on the spot. I get the hard feeling that they didn’t want me as a member due to my race.

June 2022 update: The hours were extended on all weekdays back in March or April so I have kept my membership. Everything else at the gym is mostly the same which works for me. I have begun using the towel service more often and there are chilled eucalyptus towels available which is great for those 1.5+ hour bike rides. This is my 2nd or 3rd time reviewing this Equinox where I have been working out since January 2020. Everything is fine at this gym. I have no real complaints. However, I do want to bring awareness to a $10 per month price increase in 2022 that rubs me the wrong way and a 1 hour reduction in operating hours Mon-Fri that specifically decreases the value of my membership. I specifically go to the gym as late as possible in the evening to avoid crowds so I can get a better workout. Due to the shorter hours it is now more crowded at the time I have to get to the gym to get my workout in before closing time. Also, some nights I am very rushed to get to the gym if I have to work late or need to tend to other things at home before working out. The shortened hours combined with the price increase will likely lead to me cancelling my membership in the summer when it is more feasible to exercise outside. We'll see. Also, I think the management at this gym is anti-hockey, and perhaps anti-sports. There are usually some TV's on with NBA games or other sports. There are always TV's tuned to the food network, CNN, and Law and Order SVU reruns. However, whenever NHL games are nationally televised or the Dallas Stars are playing, there is never a single TV tuned in. NHL games are nationally televised on TNT and ESPN this year, the same channels that televise NBA and college hoops. When NHL games are on, the TV's that are normally tuned to TNT or ESPN are changed to a different channel. Even in 2020 when the Dallas Stars, the local team, were in the Stanley Cup finals on NBC channel 5, Equinox did not have any TV's tuned to the games and I would have to specifically ask for the channel to be changed. Equinox is more likely to have the Hallmark channel on than a hockey game. While Lacey Chabert's phenomenal good looks in "Big City Girl gets Engaged in a Small Town at Christmas" are a motivating factor to stay in shape, sports (specifically nationally televised NHL hockey) is better.

Best gym ever! I have been a member for a few years and the staff is so friendly, the gym is extremely clean (even pre covid) and it’s easy to find parking. I have referred quite a few friends and they all agree. I’ve been to equinox in a few other states and this club is the nicest!

This facility is clean and they have new treadmills. I really enjoy their group classes and it’s great because they only allow reserving your spot 24 hours in advance unlike many yoga/ Pilates studios where it’s almost impossible to get a spot since they allow booking months in advance. I highly recommend - it’s worth every penny. Ramey, Bobby, and Chris X classes are motivating + fun!

In love with this location! I travel back and forth between LA and Dallas and I must say the Dallas locations are top-notch and very well kept and tidy. They are constantly cleaning the machines and common areas and making sure everything is sanitized. All of their staff, trainers, and coaches are wonderful. From their Kiehl’s products in the changing rooms and showers to their eucalyptus towels, everything is pretty amazing and worth every penny. This is a gym that makes you WANT to get up and go work out.

Recently joined and absolutely love this gym. I understand it’s not like other equinox gym’s throughout the country but it’s Dallas after all and the price reflects that difference (half the price of EQ in LA). We love coming here every day. Great vibe and layout. Plenty of machines and weights. Locker rooms are well stocked, Kielhs products in the shower (including face wash!!!), razors, eucalyptus chilled towels, eucalyptus steam room, well attended with cleaning and stocking of supplies. Classes included — absolutely love the group fitness and yoga classes. Staff are all amazing, super friendly and helpful and encouraging. Insane how many people remember your name, feels like a great community. For being new to the DFW area, we appreciate Equinox helping us feel at home!

You pay for the convenience. Otherwise, it's a pretty gross gym. A lot of the machines and weights are rusting. Every piece of equipment feels like it's falling a part. Most of them have these temporary maintenance placards stuck on several machines throughout the gym, and have been on there for weeks. The steam room is constantly broken. Whoever owns or manages this gym has really let things go downhill. Someone needs to spend some money and upgrade the facilities and equipment if they are going to compete with other gyms like John Reed. The front desk staff, depending on the day, can be kind of rude and stuck up when you check-in. Retraining on customer service/interaction should be executed. The only staff that works hard is the cleaning staff and they are friendlier then the check-in and admin staff, thus, the only reason I gave this location another star.

I joined Equinox back in October of 2020. I made them aware of my health condition and that I might start medical treatment for my condition promptly after joining. They assured me that in that case, they’d be able to work something out with me to ensure they either pause my membership or extend it. They didn’t give specifics, but they told me they would work something out with me. I was active at the gym until I began treatment. I called them and they told me to come in to speak to a manager. I came in and the manager was “no longer there”. They told me they would make a note of my situation in their systems, and would let the manager know. I never got a follow up call and continued to pay for a gym I could not use due to medical reasons. I called them again and they told me they couldn’t stop billing until the end, but that something could be worked out once I had paid the full balance after 12 months. I reached out to them in November asking what could be done and I was told they would speak to the manager and that I would get a call back. I never got a call, email, or notification back. I ended up paying about $2,340 for a gym I could only use for around a month or so… even after consulting with them and them ensuring they would work with me. I am very disappointed given that this is a “top” gym that promises great customer service. I feel robbed and lied to. If you foresee any issue coming up with your health or life, I do NOT recommend Equinox.
