Orangetheory makes me feel strong and allows me to spend an hour of my day clearing my head and letting go of stress. I walk out of class a happier and more energetic person. It has definitely been the best investment I've made for both my physical and mental health.

I have been a Lakewood OrangeTheory Fitness member since January 2018 (14 months as I write this), and I can’t recommend it enough for just about ANYONE. Here is an honest list of pros and cons.PROS1. OrangeTheory (OT) has a reputation for being hard. In truth, it’s only as hard as you choose to make it. You can walk or run at the pace of your own choice and choose weights that fit you. Progress is always encouraged, but no one is going to tell you to go faster or lift heavier weights. IT'S UP TO YOU.2. OT is relentlessly positive! No one is ever going to make you feel bad, they are only going to encourage and lift you up and make you feel like a winner, no matter if you (STILL!) do your pushups on your knees like I do (or whatever is challenging for you). You will walk out of the place feeling like a CHAMP after every workout.3. Wear what you want – the fanciest LuLuLemon, or just wear shorts and t-shirt like I do. (Which might match on a good day, but also may not.)4. They provide sweat towels, filtered water stations, lockers and showers.5. Classes always start and end on time.6. There are classes 7 days a week, and times from very early AM to evening.7. You have your very own workout stations, so you don’t have to worry about whether what you need will be there or not. You have your own assigned treadmill, rower and strength station.8. The workouts are fast, fun and intense. Every single class you get about 25 minutes of high intensity interval cardio, and about 25 minutes of weight training/core, and a little stretching at the end. And no two workouts are the same. This type of internal intensity workout produces something called EPOC (Excess Post-Exercise Consumption) which means you burn calories up to 36 hours AFTER the class.9. RESULTS: OT lowered my LDL (bad cholesterol) from 139 (in Dec 2017) to 113 (in April 2018). Nothing else was different.10. You can wear a heart monitor that maps your performance during class up on a big screen, along with everyone else who is wearing one. (Optional, you don’t have to if you are a more private person.) It shows you what heart rate zone you’re in during any given moment, how many calories you’ve burned so far, etc.11. OTF gyms are SUPER CLEAN. You wipe each station down after you use it with a disinfectant wipey, and the coaches clean the room even more between sessions.12. Your first workout is always free, so you can see if it’s for you or not. And you are NOT harassed by salespeople if it’s not.13. Then, there are a number of great things about the Lakewood OT. A) The coaches: they are all positive, motivating, friendly, helpful – the best! B) Plenty of easy, free, close parking C) The front office staff is STELLAR! We have hundreds of members, and they all know our name and make us feel welcome as soon as we step in the door, and are quick to solve any issues D) We have members of all ages (I’m 57) and there are lots of folks in all the age groups at Lakewood.) We are all shapes and sizes. It’s about getting healthier, not having a perfect body (and hardly any of us do.) E) The sense of community that exists at Lakewood OTF is so special and unlike any other! You really do feel at home, and members are super friendly and love making friends.CONS1. To me it's a pricey membership (but maybe not to you).2. This is not personal training. That said, it is remarkable how much personal attention you DO get. The coaches will give you pointers, and are always available for a question. Alternative exercises are always demonstrated along with the main way to do it, if you need something easier. And there are video demonstrations of every exercise constantly playing on two monitors.3. You will be charged a $12 fee if you reserve a class and don’t cancel 8 hours (or it might be 12 hours, don’t quote me) in advance. This could also be interpreted as a Pro, as it’s gotten my behind up off the couch and into the gym more than once.

I have given Orangetheory Lakewood many 10/10 star scores in the past, but I have not actually stopped to write an actual review. After 18 months of being an OTF Lakewood member, I can truly say that it has changed my life. In my 42 years I have never been able to stick with something with consistency and purpose. While the workouts are a big part of that, the biggest reason is the Lakewood community and staff.I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff. Each and every SA will greet you with a warm smile, and once they get to know you, your name. They handle schedule changes and deal with member concerns with grace. I have never seen any SA at Lakewood appear be having a bad day when I know that they must. I know I would if I had to deal with all of the member personalities and “issues.” Studio manager Taylor has done a terrific job of setting the tone and atmosphere at Lakewood. The coaches at OTF Lakewood have to be some of the best on the planet. I truly mean that. Head Coach Chantelle leads by example, and has put together a phenomenal team of instructors that inspire, encourage and cheer for all of us. With a significant focus on form on the rowers, weight floor and treadmills; OTF Lakewood members are given the proper tools to correctly execute the daily workouts.OTF Lakewood is by far the cleanest OTF studio around. It is spaced well and organized. Also, even on 100+ degree days in Texas, OTF Lakewood is still freezing cold...a huge plus! The playlist is always on point, and the music is always nice and loud, which for me, is another great component that sets OTF Lakewood apart.OTF Lakewood has helped me improve my physical health and improve my mental wellbeing. The OTF Lakewood community thrives on optimism and applauds hard work. I am so grateful for the community and new found friendships. I am very blessed to have stumbled upon OTF Lakewood.

I love everything about OTF Lakewood! It is never the same workout, it is always challenging, always full body and always fun! The Coaches are incredible at Lakewood and the studio is nice and clean. I have visited one other OTF in St.Louis and there is no place like Lakewood!

Orange Theory Lakewood has incredibly professional coaches who know the industry and care about motivating their clients. At OTF Lakewood you get one-on-one coaching in the setting of a group class. The workouts are never the same, and the music playlists are carefully selected by the head coach, Chantelle. Chantelle can be seen evaluating her coaches regularly, making sure they are well trained to bring out the best in their clients. After visiting several other Orange Theory locations and going to countless types of gyms and studios, I can't say enough about OTF Lakewood!
