This is the first gym I’ve been to where I’m not extremely intimidated and nervous to work out by myself. I actually feel comfortable here which was huge for me. I’m still learning and still a newbie, but I don’t feel like I’m being judged whatsoever. The layout, equipment, staff, other gym goers.. everything is just wonderful. I’m glad my boyfriend introduced me to Recess ◡̈

The best gym in Dallas hands down. I’ve been here two years and love the equipment here, the staff and the other gym goers. I’ve made a few friends too as everyone is super welcoming. The decor in here is next level! It’s like exercising in a fancy fitness club in New York. With the addition of the dry sauna and the towel service, you definitely get that spa, fitness club luxury. I’ve recommended this gym to everyone I know as the equipment selection has definitely leveled up my workouts. Again, best gym in Dallas.

This gym sucks! Join a gym, where the equipment is newer, and the staff are friendlier. I wasn’t able to bring a visiting relative along as a guest FOR ONE DAY without them charging $25. I have gone to a lot of gyms in my life and have NEVER ran across this. you want to talk about greedy, this takes the cake.Go somewhere else. Especially if you are a serious gym user. This gym is for amateurs.Response to owner: it’s clear that you are a novice business owner, because nobody that cared about their business, would respond in such a rude manner, but rather would consider, or at least contemplate the complaint. So, who is the troll? Are you going to tell me that your T bar row is not broken? (For months) and some of the cables aren’t greased? Leg extension and hamstring machines are loose. Pec deck looks left over from 24 hour fitness.Capping membership? Ha! Just saw a group of 5 signing up the other day.Oh and no one cares you got a new sound system, turn down the flipping music I want to hear my own.Anyway, I’m not too concerned. I understand a new gym is coming soon.. so you will quickly lose customers to them. Good luck .

Hands down the best gym in Dallas! Every single detail of this gym is considered when creating the absolute best environment for its members. The equipment, the upkeep, the cleanliness, the locker rooms, the extra features like the free to use Theraguns, the saunas and even the tacos on Saturday mornings truly make this a one of kind gym. The staff is always so welcoming and friendly to every single person who walks in. You just can’t beat it! So happy to call Recess my gym home!

I rarely write reviews this long, but since Recess is such a fantastic gym, I feel they deserve it.Recess is a nice balance between upscale and gritty, with a clear emphasis on strength training. There are three separate dumbbell areas (not counting the ones in the small outdoor space), a turf area for sled pushes, two dedicated deadlift/Oly spots, a boxing area, and a wide variety of equipment (including some specialized/unique equipment you don’t see in many gyms, such as the belt squat). A good portion of the equipment is Rogue, and Hypervolts and Normatec boots are also available for members to use for free (a perk I haven’t seen anywhere else). The location is convenient, and parking is rarely an issue in the garage. The gym space is open, with windows all around, and some sweet views of Dallas. Also, though I haven’t met them, it’s clear that the owners truly care about the product and their members. Since I’ve joined, they’ve added new equipment and have installed small infrared saunas in the locker rooms. Another example is their recent decision to cap memberships to limit overcrowding at peak times (this was becoming an issue). Major props for this decision, and I truly hope this stays in place long-term!In fairness, I’ll also point out a couple of things that could be improved. These shouldn’t discourage anyone from joining the gym, but some attention here would make Recess even better. First, some machines/equipment appear older than others. For example, the large white multi-attachment cable machines/racks aren’t the smoothest to use, as the cables are a bit loose and gritty. They get the job done though. Secondly, 90%+ of members here are courteous and respectful, but you do see filming on the gym floor and in the locker rooms, as well as members “reserving” benches or machines with large duffel bags on the floor. In fairness, this happens at many gyms, but I feel the vibe of Recess seems to attract more of the “influencer” types than some other places. Again, nothing major, but something ownership may want to monitor. All said, Recess is an absolutely fantastic gym, with caring and involved ownership. I’m so glad I discovered this place, and plan to remain a member for a very long time. Cheers!
