“This is an incredible gym, a bit of old school mixed with modern! All the trainers are nice, very knowledgeable and take an interest in you no matter what fitness level you’re at. I really like how they gave me training tips and tricks to get the most out of every workout while I’m there. I have frequented this place often even though I’m about an hour away. This is a must stop if you’re going through Danbury, CT. I’ve been to pretty much every gym in CT. This is truly one of the best around.”

For a mom and pop gym in the Danbury area that's NOT always slammed with people, SET is pretty solid. Decent array of equipment ranging from machines, benches, cardio equipment, a squat rack/deadlift platform, etc. The turf area, while small, is still great for sled pulling and bodes well for other body weight exercises. There's a side garage-like cross-fit area downstairs where spin classes are held, but if not being utilized, it can be utilized for multiple different movements. There is also a boxing ring in the main gym and classes to go along with it, which is honestly really cool. Price point is perfect. My biggest gripe about SET though is one trainer in particular. I've had a number of experiences while working out where I'll walk two feet away from a machine I'm using to rest between sets, and out of nowhere she'll dismantle whatever I'm doing and have 1-2 people do whatever training exercise they're on. Sometimes she asks if it's fine, which is whatever, sometimes she doesn't, it's a total toss up. A recent experience I watched from a different side of the gym included a woman setting up barbell military presses in the squat rack area, she did a warm up set, and then basically got kicked out of her spot for a solid 5-10 minutes because the trainer set up an elevated kettle bell squat station for a few of her clients. Things like these are excruciatingly aggravating to experience/watch since it sometimes shows the trainers have zero awareness for others not utilizing the training programs. A number of customers here, including myself, have memberships without the need of trainers and pay monthly to come and work out. The last thing we want at a gym that's pretty great to work out in is something as obnoxious as this.Aside from all of this, the majority of other trainers I've run into while working out have been very pleasant and SET has been a great alternative to other overpopulated gyms in Danbury.
