I do not recommend mma with coach Juan Hooks. He trained me in mma for 7 months and after switching to another gym I advanced way faster within 7 months. Making me realize his teaching is somewhere between mediocre and terrible. He has a sluggish attitude there was a few times when nobody except me would show up for class and he would just sit there on his phone instead of working one on one with me. Talmbout its open gym if I wanted to workout I would of went to the gym, and when I would ask him "what should I work on" he would ignore me like scrolling on social media was more important. Lastly my final straw was when we were practicing upper leg kicks my training partner was shorter than me and not flexible like at all when would kick me he almost never landed on the thai instead very close to the side of my knee. When Juan noticed he sounded apathetic about it which led to me injuring my knee making it hurt to walk. If he knew anything about training safely he would of stopped him from kicking me like that. The only coaches at Ima West that I would recommend is coach Bj any other coaches I've never trained with.
