Great people, great trainers. Whether you’re looking to get in shape, flip tires, or finesse your hook, Mike (and Rich) will help you meet your goals. The best thing I did for myself in 2022 was start training here. I echo others in saying that the atmosphere is welcoming and empowering, whether you’re an experienced boxer or a 40-something-year-old looking to get stronger and putting on boxing gloves for the first time (ahem, me).

The trainers are knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to offer guidance and support. They offer a range of classes, from boxing and Muay Thai to weight training, making it easy to find something to fit your interests and goals. In addition to the physical benefits, the community at this gym is truly exceptional. It's a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone is encouraged to push their limits and achieve their goals. If you're looking for a gym that will challenge you, provide top-notch training, and offer a welcoming and supportive community, this is the place for you. This really is an amazing gym. I’ve been training at Northside Boxing since May, 2022, and plan to continue doing so for as long as it stays open. The owner Rich is one of the best guys you’ll ever meet, and I wasn’t the least bit surprised to see how many Northside members have left thoughtful, positive reviews before me. Rich makes a noticeable effort to make sure everyone feels welcome. He and the other coaches at Northside are top notch. They run classes throughout the week that are guaranteed to improve your boxing and your overall fitness. There are also plenty of open gym hours, with more than enough bags around the gym, for those that want to work by themselves. In terms of additional equipment, I really can’t think of anything missing (two rings, pads galore, treadmill, bikes, rower, and an entire section of the gym dedicated to strength training). If you’re looking for a new boxing gym or considering joining one for the first time, you really should take a long look at Northside Boxing in Evanston.

I recently moved across the country and needed to find a new gym, and Northside Boxing was the ideal place to check out since it was just a 5 minute drive from my apartment. The moment I came in I was able to talk to the owner, Rich, and he was immediately welcoming and let me try out the gym for free on my first day. At that point I knew this was someone I could trust, and someone who's interests align with the success and satisfaction of his members. The gym is a haven for regular gym goers, boxers, powerlifters, and weightlifters alike. Two boxing rings, plenty of bags, six lifting platforms and a deadlift platform, seven squat racks, bumper plates, plenty of barbells, specialty bars, dumbbells, kettlebells, etc. If you need it, this place probably has it.What stands out more however is the community. No matter who you are, if you are a regular or just someone that comes once in a blue moon, all the coaches and members go out of their way to say hello and ask how you are doing. Of all the gyms I have ever been to, this one stands out the most because everyone wants to be there, and everyone wants to watch you succeed and reach your goals. And that is something you cannot quantify by just a membership price alone. If you want a place where you can become the best person you can be, Northside is the place for you.

I would give this gym one star because the owner, (I'll leave his name out of it), is an egomaniac that doesn't know boxing. I suggest keeping your distance from this guy for a multitude of reasons. The other coaches I've seen are great, very experienced and kind people. If the owner was completely out of the picture, my rating would go up. Navigate this place well, and you may have a great experience.

We recently switched to Northside and have been so pleased with the community and equipment in the gym. As a powerlifter, it's been amazing to have a gym nearby that has everything I need to train. Rich, the owner, is super welcoming and has cultivated an awesome vibe in the space. Highly recommend.

Dropped in and loved it. I contacted the owner about open gym hours and he told me I was welcome to stop by for trial pass. The vibe of the place is old school boxing gym mixed with a strongman facility. There is a solid mix of heavy bag styles as well as speed and double ended bags. Additionally, for the combat sports crowd, there are 2 rings and a variety of grappling equipment. On the strength side you have your traditional squat racks and lifting platforms, but you also have things like atlas stones, kegs, and log press gear. Not high tech or anything, just a super solid gym.
