I was in the worst shape of my life according to my inbody / bloodwork results. I've also had a membership with planet fitness for 3 years but rarely ever went. Something about the low price point and lack of motivation. I'm aware that Plant Fitness business model is targeting the non-regular gym goers and it def worked on me.I joined Orange Theory in Federal Way about 3.5 months ago and here's my experience/observations so far:Having to sign up for a class beforehand keeps you accountable and gets you to your workout whereas a normal gym membership means you can bail at anytime. Half the battle is getting to your workout.I would never workout as hard as I would if there was not a coach telling me exactly when to go into push / all out speeds that get me into the orange/red zones. When I was traveling worked out at a hotel gym, I tried to do it on my own and just gave up. The coaches directions combined with everyone working hard at the same time is contagious!Since we wear trackers, your live results and metrics are on the screen in front of you so you know exactly how hard you're working and if you need to work harder to hit your goal. Not only will you feel better, metrics are in the DNA of everything at Orange Theory so you'll know you're improving and by how much.I've lost 2% body fat and gained 2 pounds of muscle according to my inbody scans.HIIT workouts are probably the best way to get back into shape and lose body fat. I've never sweated this much in my previous workouts.I actually like running now which is insane to me. I also look forward to my Orange Theory classes! The staff and community is amazing. No judgement, support everywhere, and they know you by name.If you're looking for a community to help you lose body fat percentage and get back into shape, Orange Theory is a great solution as long as you're also putting the work into it!———UPDATE 3 months later ————Lost a total of 5% body fat, gained 2.2 pounds of muscle and lost 6 pounds.

I go to a lot of OTF around the Puget Sound area and this one is my favorite. They are nice and friendly and always helpful at the front desk and I very much like their coaches!

OTF Federal Way is a great location for me when visiting home. Front desk is very friendly and Vinny and Jess were great as coaches. This location has a good amount of space and windows to the east let in a good amount of light. Facilities are well kept too. I'll be returning whenever I'm in town.

If I could rate it 100 million stars I would. Best gym in America. Staff is amazing feels like we are all one big happy family. Lolesi at the front desk was so patient and helpful when I first started. Anjelina & Margarita the managers go above and beyond to make me feel welcomed. The classes are worth every penny. Coaches are very professional and I saw results after the 1st month!

As far as a workouts go, they are a good workout although it is a little bit of controlled chaos between the music and the coach giving direction for the different stations. If you get past that, you'll get in a good workout.Beware that the left hand often doesn't talk to the right hand meaning if you sign up at one location and go to another location, they cannot make any changes to your account whatsoever. Apparently the computers can't talk to one another there yet so be sure you deal directly with the location you signed up at originally.Lastly, if you sign up for a membership, beware that there will be charges when you cancel, and even though you cancel, your membership will continue at least for another month beyond that. Staff will likely not tell you that and if you don't read the membership contract thoroughly, you will find out the hard way. Also, you'll realize that you could have continued to use a facility during that time. Of course if you canceled because of medical reasons then you're just plain S.O.L. If you would like to freeze your account, you can do that, but expect to be charged every month for doing so.As is often the case, most memberships are not in favor of the consumer and this is no exception.
