Gracie Barra Fort Collins - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

When we moved to Fort Collins last year we immediately looked for a martial arts class for our 4 year old. I searched Google and Gracie Barra popped up with the highest ratings so we took a chance. My husband knew of Jiujitsu and how great it is, especially for self defense as well as self control as opposed to encouraging "fighting". I called them to find out more information and they got back to me quickly and were just so enthusiastic and friendly off the bat. They offered a free try out class for our boys to see how we liked it. We were taken in like family right away. We could tell that it was very professional and that everyone who worked there absolutely LOVE what they do. Professor Lucas especially is truly incredible with children. His positive influence and encouragement is second to none. He is the heart of this place and we feel so lucky to have found it. Both our boys have really enjoyed it and we can tell that they have really grown. Our youngest, who had a bit of a propensity for fighting has not picked a fight in months--in fact the only time he got into a scuffle was defending himself and the other kids from a school bully! We've already encouraged many parents of our boys friends to look into it, but wanted to make our thoughts public here. It's such a healthy environment for the boys and we're so grateful to have found it.

I’ve been practicing martial arts for over two decades and taught Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Pekiti Tirsia Kali, boxing and kickboxing. I’ve taught at MMA gyms and trained BJJ at other gyms in northern Colorado and joined Gracie Barra Fort Collins soon after opening. I’ve trained with black belts, masters and grand masters of other systems and have not been more impressed with an instructor than Professor Lucas at GB Fort Collins. His ability to convey information, engage and encourage his students is second to none. In my experience the instructor sets the tone of the school and leads the students toward mastery. I could not be happier with the instruction, environment and the high quality students/practitioners at GB Fort Collins!

My son has been going to Gracie Barra going on three months and has loved the experience. It's a very clean gym and has good atmosphere.We love that he is building a community while learning jiu-jitsu!

I have had an incredible time training here so far. The staff are all extremely passionate and Professor Lucas is an amazing instructor. The atmosphere is welcoming and energetic, and the students here are very helpful and encouraging. I love the way that the classes are layed out, building on the basic techniques over the week. It really feels like you are learning and improving every day. I cannot say enough good things about this gym, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in trying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Our family feels safe and empowered at Gracie Barra, as new team members program director Mikey welcomed us right away and helps us on and off the mat even including our toddler while she cheers for the big kids and tries jumping jacks, and professor Lucas keeps the attention of energetic kids, teaching them self defense in a way they’ll remember at recess. As a busy adult I never regret waking up before the sunrises for morning classes!… GB is the family way to BJJ!!

Great place to practice! All the professors and coaches take an interest in you no matter your level of jujitsu.

Visiting FC from Oregon, I stopped by for a practice and had a lots of fun drilling and rolling. The place feels like home, very knowledgeable instructors and positive atmosphere. Highly recommend it
