Excellent gym! We enjoyed the 55ft walls and variety of lead routes. It would have been cool if topping out was allowed in the bouldering area.

We had my son’s 7th birthday party here over the weekend and it was wonderful. It ran very smoothly and everyone raved about how the check in process went. They were greeted and directed where to go. So glad they were able to accommodate us! Thanks!

I visited this gym while visiting from out of state and was totally blown away by this place. There's a ton of top rope routes, around 10 auto-belays, and a good amount of bouldering. The facility is nice and well-maintained, the routes/problems are interesting and diverse, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The grading was more difficult than I'm used to (a v4 at my home gym is more like a v2 here, and a 5.11a at my home gym is probably a 5.10b here), but I think my home gym probably grades too easily. Just figured I'd mention it in case any other out-of-towners show up and have a similar experience. In addition to climbing, they offer a full gym with aerobic equipment -- I didn't try it, but it looked like a nice setup. They've also got a little gear shop for shoes, rope, chalk, grigris, etc. And if you don't have your own gear, you can rent a pair of shoes/harness at a fair price. In the end, we spent three hours here and had a blast. Highly recommended for those looking for a nice climbing session!

Pros are obviously that this place is huge. Giant walls for top rope, auto belay, and lead climbing plus a good sized bouldering section. A big con for me is the way they teach belaying. I know every place is a little different and it’s hard to know how to best get through everyone when it’s busy but I’ve never been to a place that does it like this. They do a class every half hour so we got there right after 6 and had to sit around until 6:30. By then a big group of like 10 had gathered and they taught us one step at a time and made everyone demonstrate before then doing the next step. It took 45 minutes and half the time was just us sitting around waiting for everyone else to get through their demonstration. I can’t imagine this is the most effective way, I’m sure it takes this long all the time. For someone who’s already belayed at other gyms a million times it was so frustrating. I of course understand that they need to check that you can do it but I could’ve shown them in 2 seconds and been on my way, that’s how they do it at any other gym. And for people that haven’t done it before, by the time they get to the last step, they already forgot what they learned at the beginning a half hour ago. Then we had to do a bouldering orientation and an auto belay orientation. This place is a little pricier than other gyms and we barely even got any time to climb once we finished all the classes. Another con, and this isn’t their fault but probably just the area it’s in, there are tons of kids running around. I saw kids swinging on top ropes under people climbing, literal babies running on the mats with their parents chasing after them. I think the kids should have to stay in the kid’s section upstairs.

I went for the first time on a Sunday, when it was pretty busy. The gym was short staffed (not their fault, it’s hard to maintain employees), but I had to wait for a while to get my orientation so I could start climbing. Once I expressed my frustration, Kevin was extremely kind and dropped what he was doing to give me a personal orientation. He was apologetic and checked up on me throughout my time there. I was very grateful for his empathy and attention, and it turned my trip around. Not the best gym for adults who are beginning top rope climbing, because there are not many “beginner” routes beyond the kids area. But the facility is beautiful, clean, and up to date! I’ll be back in the future.

Excellent place for the whole family. I saw every age group climbing, from 60's to 3 year olds. I left this place feeling like spider man, but I also was humbled to see many small children climbing much better than myself. Rental equipment was clean, bathrooms clean, and everything was fresh and well cared for. I'm definitely coming back. Alta has something for all abilities. DONT BE INTIMIDATED, IT'S SO FUN.

Lovely gym with tall walls. A smattering of auto belays. 55' walls and shorter ones upstairs. Very fun! And they have a hand washing station!
