The facility is well-maintained with modern amenities like sauna and individual hot tubs. The wellness director at the Y (Jody) is extremely rude and her vibe is totally hostile with bad attitude.. My Husband and I come here often to work out together and when we go downstairs to the weight room Jody makes sure she doesn’t speak to us. We’ve been coming there off & on for almost a year. She will walk right pass you as if you’re nobody. Then her wellness associates/floor attendants minions make sure to make you feel like an outsider. Startin up loud conversations to their fav customers as if they can’t speak to say Good Morning. They’re constantly looking and not speaking including Jody. Staff are good for starting up conversations with the people they know while staring at the fairly new customers. The environment is not friendly, and passive aggressive, it’s very hot down there like come on turn the AC on. Jody walks around like she owns the place … IF I WERE YOU I WOULD NOT COME HERE. If you like friendly environment and not someone staring at you the whole time while you’re working out as if you’re doing something wrong GO TO A DIFFERENT YMCA!!!

I used to LOVE this place. After returning after the covid restrictions, the kids and I have been harassed on many occasions by a staff member in weight room. She takes all enjoyment out of being there and yet after many reviews and complaints they keep her on staff. It’s a shame that one person can ruin the reputation of this gym.

This is the most unprofessional center. The leadership here are either condescending and classist or incompetent. The Athletic Director seems to only be there for the paycheck, not even showing up or caring when coaches don't show and leave parents and players without practice that was paid for. The Youth Director is a classist, who can't take criticism, instead defending herself with attitude and snobbiness. She's vindictive, as well. The Assistant Director is incompetent, responding with silence when an issue is brought to his attention instead of any sort of result, even after researching it. Don't waste your money. Either go to the Ragsdale Y or go to the Thomasville Y.

Like other reviews, the staff in the weight room is horrible, specifically one lady who apparently has nothing better to do than harass people. I watched as she approached not less than 5 people in a span of an hour. She stands around and hovers over people like a guard at a prison waiting for the moment she can scold someone. She doesn’t have enough gym etiquette to approach someone after they complete a set but instead makes them stop mid-lift to say whatever she feels is important. On top of that, the staff could care less about the organization of the weight area. It is in constant disarray with members walking around searching for weights. The Hartley Drive Y has gone downhill.

I’ve never experienced rudeness or anything like the other reviews state at the Hartley Y in HP.. I’ve heard people say they’re bad and I’ve read a lot of negative stuff about this Y.. but they have always been very nice/kind to me! I like them! They were nice enough to let me in to play ball after they changed their policy on guest passes.. I shouldn’t have been able to get in without having a membership or being accompanied by a member but they let me in!I do think they ask for a little too much info. I know it’s for safety.. but I was talking to a couple guys on the court, they were telling me the way they ask for your DL # + other personally identifiable info makes them uncomfortable. I’ll be truthful, I felt a tad uncomfortable too.

I’ve been a member at hartley ymca for over 11 years. There’s a real sense of community and the staff are extremely nice. However, In the past year, getting on the basketball courts has become nearly impossible. It seems anytime I try to go from 4 till close on any day of the week the courts are being occupied. I understand that the y has its own league and etc, but it’s discouraging that they seem to just not care about their members anymore. It’s not fair to be renting out every single court for volleyball while your members also pay to use the courts. By any chance a single court is open, there’s 10 people shooting on the same goal. Many of my friends have switched to sportscenter. Moral of the story, if your trying to get on the basketball courts, forget it.

This gym has a ridiculous dress code that isn’t equally enforced. Some girls walk in with nothing but spandex and a sports bra and nothing is said to them, while others can actively attempt to follow the dress code and still get sent home with a dress code violation. I have been confronted for “breaking” dress code five times for absurd reasons that makes sense to nobody. Today, the front desk staff member went out of her way to humiliate me. I’ll include a photo of my most recent dress code “violation”. People should be able to exercise freely without having to feel self-conscious about their clothing. For this reason, I don’t recommend that anyone waste their time choosing this gym as their place of exercise.
