Not the best place to go workout ,but not that you don't get any exercise either. You get a bit of everything from cardio ,weightlifting(sort of) ,gymnastics to yoga. There are pros and cons of what you expect and I'll try to explain what you'll get out of it. Pros ,they'll teach you the basics and go step by step how to do movements correctly to avoid injuries, they have hourly classes ,day and night as long as your sign in and after you take the elements class (mandatory) before you can go regularly and the location is convenient if live in town. The cons ,there's no parking you either gotta walk, ride bike, or catch the bus. The gym is small and when there are a lot of people there it's difficult when you need space to jump rope, lifting or other complex movements that require some space. Lack of variety in the weight lifting department. Don't expect to do bench press, Bicep curls, over head triceps, etc. etc. most of the time you'll be doing dead lifts, hang snatches, some kettle bell swings, you'll be doing this as part of your routine, and it's only three days out of the week, not daily. A bit pricey, even for the cheapest the class is a bit pricey. The elements is $250 for three weeks, then after if your on a budget you can go for three days a week for a month, that cost around $200. Or $250 if you want to come everyday at anytime for a month. My only gripes is trying to do workouts at my own pace but it's difficult to keep up and when the others are finish, they move on to the next cause they have only 45 minutes for the session. And there's more talking then the workout its self and feels like a half hour session. For me it didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth and some of the gymnastics stuff was way to difficult for me and lost interest to come back.

on a recent trip to Honolulu I got to workout a couple times at CF Kuleana! It was one of the high lights of my trip. The gym and its trainers were amazing, and the atmosphere was great. The programming was awesome! I really learned a lot of new techniques that I will take back to my gym.

Nice and welcoming right off the bat. I just moved here and visited a few boxes before finding this one. These guys really have the sense of family and fun WODs to get your sweat on! This is the box to join for sure!

Crossfit Kuleana is such a wonderful community to be a part of.. getting plugged into a crossfit gym can be intimidating, but Kuleana is really something special, full of people who genuinely want to see its members improve as athletes and make changes in their lives for the better. I've never been a part of such a supportive group of people who inside of the gym are my accountability, and outside of the gym are a wonderful and fun group of friends to have :) Kuleana is a special gym, and a really great place to start if you've ever even considered trying crossfit!

I love how focused CrossFit Kuleana is on an athlete's technique. The coaches are excellent and work with you if you have a pre-existing injury. The coaches will modify the WOD to ensure you get a great workout without aggravating an old wound.

Before joining, I never tried CrossFit before. I moved to Hawai'i over a year ago; prior to moving, I was in pretty good shape thanks to women's boot camp classes I'd been going to for a couple of years. Then I moved and fell out of all of my healthy routines. I tried going back to boot camp classes, but I felt like I wasn't being challenged anymore. And so I walked into CrossFit Kuleana pretty out of shape and a total n00b to lifting. I did a LOT of research on CrossFit since I've heard all of the things about it being unsafe. I looked into pretty much all of the CrossFit gyms in town. Huge props to CrossFit Kuleana for being the only gym to calling me back immediately. Other gyms took days and even weeks to respond to my inquiry about signing up with them. I guess they don't want more business??Anyway, they have a 3-week "elements" (beginners) course with classes 3 times a week. Most of the other CrossFit gyms only offer this course for two weeks, or they offer it for three weeks but only twice a week. From day one, the coaches really emphasized safety and good form. I quickly saw that I'd been squatting and lunging incorrectly in my boot camp classes all these years. No wonder I came out of those classes with so many injuries, everything from sprained ankles to strained hip flexors! CrossFit Kuleana, on the other hand, teaches proper form really well and has us do mobility exercises and stretches before starting the workout. All of the coaches are amazing and really approachable. There's no such thing as a stupid question with these folks. Everyone is really welcoming and friendly, and I've made quite a few friends here. This gym also has social events outside of class. If you're curious about CrossFit Kuleana, I highly suggest you check out their free class on Saturdays at 9am. And if you're on Facebook, follow their Facebook page because they update it regularly. You can take a look at the different workouts, upcoming events, specials, and more.

Dropped in from the mainland and everyone was super friendly, coaching was good, and the workout was awesome. Can't complain about the weather. I wish they had a bigger space, but they have huge fans so I guess that's something. Would recommend!
