Field House at The University of Iowa is a historic gym with extensive facilities, including an Olympic-size swimming pool, multiple courts, and a well-equipped fitness loft. While it isn't the most modern, this gym offers a variety of recreational activities and is known for its architecture and natural light. The gym is spacious and generally clean but could use some updates in certain areas.

Field House is open from early morning till late night, making it convenient for diverse schedules. However, it tends to get hot and humid in summer, and air circulation needs improvement. It's recommended for those looking for a quieter workout environment compared to the newer CRWC.

Pros:

  • Historic and architecturally pleasing.
  • Olympic-size swimming pool.
  • Multiple courts for various sports.
  • Well-equipped fitness loft.
  • Spacious with natural light.
  • Open from early morning till late night.
  • Quiet environment for workouts.
  • Close to public transport.
  • Helpful and friendly staff.
  • Variety of fitness classes available.

Only place to play badminton but air circulation is so poor that felt suffocated after playing just 5 minutes. Would love to go there and play otherwise.

They shouldn't use badminton courts for playing table tennis and judging by the size of the facility there should be more vending machines for refreshments. Overall it's a good place for exercise and having fun while playing different sports.

Great facility and enough space to exercise without feeling like your climbing up the back of another person in the gym. Excellent basketball courts for pickup games and working out.

Had a decent night until closing time, my friend and I were drinking water and the bouncer decided to be rude and PHYSICALLY push us out of the doors along with removing our WATER. Rudest and sexist bouncer I have encountered and felt discriminated against.

There's plenty here to offer for everyone, student or non-student. Various floors of equipment, lots of fitness classes, martial arts... I recommend arriving here via public transport or bicycle because while there is a parking ramp, traffic on this part of town is horrendous because of the hospital nearby.

This is one of the oldest buildings in the University that was built in the early 1920's. But don't let the age fool you into thinking that it's not nice, The building has been well mentioned and houses Olympic size swimming pool, a medium size gym, a couple of workout rooms, basketball court which services as a badminton and volleyball court and a couple of racquetball courts too.

An aged but historic building in the heart of campus. I have many fond memories of watching the Iowa marching band warm up here and its also just a fun building to walk/run around in.

I like to use the fitness area upstairs here. The facility is massive but it's difficult to get access to the weights because they're always being used by someone else. The facility offers a huge area of recreational activities like basketball courts and a swimming pool.

Not the best, but gets the job done.A little hard to navigate, and definitely an older building. …
