We’ve been members for almost twenty years, so obv we’re on board with the facilities and whatnot. Today something out of the ordinary happened that speaks to the character of many of the staff and crew there. Our eldest lost a set of keys that were located by a police officer. That officer called the Y (trying to track our eldest down, so credit where it’s due there) and the Y called us, the “accounts billable” party, instead of giving out a number. I’m very happy to see their checks and balances (and just sticking to the rules) works as it should. Really did us a solid. Can’t say enough good things about them.

Hopefully our experience gets better here considering we just got a membership i walk in to get a key card today, they send my youngest daughter and i back to the pool just to be told to leave because its closed... august 19, 2023 @3pm. My daughter is devastated considering the circumstances but thanks any ways.

In order to cancel you have to go in. You also have to cancel a week in advance not to be charged the following month. Seems like a one sided policy.

Great place to work out, good rates for young people. There are plenty of machines and overflow parking for busy days.

Love going to my swim classes for exercise. Hate the app for trying to get a space in class. Not once have I got right in my one class; i always get the wait list. Not sure how the app works that out when Im right on at 8 a.m. if there is that much response for a 9 am. Class why cant we get an 8 a.m. class added? I would happily come earlier so there is room for all and I can quit getting waitlisted. Most the time Im waitlisted I dont get in to the class. Once i got notified 15 minutes before a class that I got a spot but I didnt have time to drive there to get in and had to unregister.

Ymca is a nice place to go workout swimming take families it’s really heart felt warm environment to work out in only problem is they are all ways full v they don’t have enough family swim time where more families can go swim daily often for weight loss . So in my honest opinion we need to build another building for ymca with two pools three so more families can swim daily as much as often for weight loss better health . Swimming is easier on the body joints stuff one of the best ways to loss weight feel great .. I’m for it build another YMCA

The Kalamazoo Y has more limited family swim than most other Ys in the state. It is limited to an hour per day on most days, during time windows when most children are in school. Even for school breaks, they are unwilling to extend family swim hours, and sign up is nearly impossible. It is a great facility for adults, but not for families.

Great place for all ages. Those with the Medicare advantage plans and trying to achieve personal goals like physical activities, classes , meeting new people and making friends. I also believe that they are hiring so if your looking for a job please check it out for yourself

Great group fitness classes. Both the Portage Y and Maple St (KZoo) do a great job with facilities, courts and classes, however the Maple Y (you have access to both with membership) has a sauna, steam room and hot tub which the Portage location lacks. The women's locker room has a women only workout area within it with machines and weights. Both locations are great and provide child care options for active parents as well as a range of programs and classes for kids. Maple St. can be quite busy at times, and it can be hard to find parking.
