Genesis Health Clubs - Ward Parkway

Terrible client and management relationships. I tried to cancel my membership several times since December of ‘21 . I visited this location twice and they assured me I would get a refund for the amount they continuously charged me since my request of cancellation. The staff was fired and no one added the appropriate notes to my account for this issue. which I left VM for and showed up in person for…..twice. On my third attempt, the new manager Rhonda. Ignored my explanation of the issue, printed off a copy of paper that said that this would get cancelled that day, instead of the day I requested MONTHS ago. I then confronted her saying that this wipes away everything I’ve done right. I then told her I needed this cancelled as of December and she says no one added the notes. So it’s nothing she can do.(as if this was my fault for someone else not properly trained to do their job). I requested to speak to the regional manager Marco Talarico who then tells me, that this will make him look bad, then continue to fall of the statement of no added notes to the account. I was essentially punished for reputation and the staff lack of proper training. Another staff member says this happens often. 0 out of 10, Would not recommend this as a gym home.

Genesis is great. But the location on Ward parkway is only a great as it is because of the Queen Lisa that runs that place! She keeps it in tip top shape, encourages everyone that walks through those doors, and makes the gym so fun!! I love this gym and the friends Ive made there! The pool is kinda sketch though.

Though this gym isn’t the closest to me, I prefer this gym over nearby gyms due to the staff and the environment provided. No matter the time of day, I feel comfortable working out, and this is also true no matter who is working out next to me. The upstairs cardio area is clean and a machine is always available, and the downstairs (strength training) area has plenty of machines and weights to choose from.This location is worth the drive and coming here makes workout out enjoyable!

Genesis just has the most shady business practices. Their billing and membership practices are so shady it’s borderline a scam. As someone else called out the only way to cancel is to go in person to make it more of a hassle to leave. Just a slimy desperate move. The gym is dirty and the people aren’t all that friendly either. Better to find a different gym.I went in and signed my notice to terminate my month to month membership today. Let’s see if they actually honor that or if they keep billing me.

The overall customer service is good with mostly very nice people running the front desk. However the facility is very small for the amount of equipment and traffic. I would not suggest getting a membership if you’re planning on working out during busy hours. There is also a lot of missing and broken equipment that makes it even harder to find a good spot in there to exercise. Lastly, if you get a membership, be VERY careful about what you’re paying for. I was given an over the phone price guarantee, a different, higher one when I signed up, and an even higher fee when I canceled. There are without a doubt hidden fees— be mindful.

I've been a member for many, many years. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and they keep the facilities neat and clean.Additionally, I'm really glad they finally remodeled this location!However, there are few issues needing correction. One, I absolutely hate their toilets in the female restroom!They are certainly not for adults, but more for 1st graders. (Much too low!)Secondly, absolutely none of the audio equipment on the exercising machines works with the televisions. They should just tape over it and write "out of order".Other than this, oh and the steam room does not work consistently, this gym is fine!

I’ve only been a member for a week. I absolutely love Genesis Health Club! The staff is welcoming and courteous. I am always greeted with a smile. The other members are very nice as well.I have attended the new On The Turf Class with Matt M. It was a great workout and I met new people who invited me to The Centergy Class, which I loved! It’s a mix between Pilates and Yoga. The instructor was very helpful. I also love the Spin Class with Kristen. She is loads of fun and highly energetic.The facility is clean. Lots of equipment and space.My current trainer Matt M. Is so great! He’s knowledgeable, kind, and funny. He pushes you and encourages you through the workout. He explains how to do an exercise and why. I’ve learned so much in just a week. Things that I can take with me for the rest of my life. I can feel that I have made a life changing decision by joining. I’m so glad I did! You should consider changing your life as well and be sure to start here at the Genesis Health Club on Ward Parkway!Edit: I attended a Yoga class for the first time on 3/7/22. The instructor did not acknowledge me at all. This was my first bad experience since writing this review yesterday.

Genesis on ward parkway has an great facility with all the equipment, weights, and personal training one could ask for. They even have a small pool for those looking for a swim. I do however, have to warn those that rely on free weights, and equipment that utilizes free weights that they are in short supply. Waiting in line to use a squat rack and the general lack of 10 lb weights really dampen the experience and create unnecessary frustration.

This is my first time in this Genesis facility and I’ll tell you it was an amazing experience! I was greeted at the door and any question that I had the staff were quick to assist me. I was surprised to see that they had a sauna steam room hot tub and pool!This is like a country club compared to the other gyms. The staff was amazing and most especially Davion he made me the best smoothie ever chocolate peanut butter strawberry banana. Davion me my experience over the top! Shout out to the team there. Great job!!p.s. For the ladies, they even have products for that time of the month!

In March I received a call about my past do balance. To prevent the charges from reoccurring I selected to freeze my account. The salesperson I spoke with notated the account but never submitted the freezing of the account. Being that my account was wrongfully charged I spoke with the sales manager and requested that he fix the error on my account.*Note that I originally came in to the club to cancel my membership.The club manager stated that if I cancel my membership he can’t undo what’s done. Simple right!!! So I made a small payment to keep the account active and allow the mistake to be undone. The club manager then reneges on what he could do and states that he can freeze my account for 3 MORE months which would add about another 33$ to what is already owed versus removing the the additional charges from April - June . I was never notified that the freeze was not applied. I stated to manager I would like to speak to the owner to right the wrong doing and he proceeded to belittle me for not knowing who he was and throwing his 9 year tenure with the company in my face. Little did he know I was a former employee of the company and will be reporting these false charges with the BBB.
