Took some time off from working out. When I can back Genesis had turned into a tired, broken down gym only interested in collecting monthly dues. Do yourself a favor, look somewhere else if being in a clean, functioning gym matters to you!

* The 1 star isn't because of Staff in club, it's the organization. This was my home gym when I started working out at 24 hour fitness.

I typically don’t write reviews, good or bad, but felt compelled to share my experience with Genesis. I joined what used to be “24 Hour Fitness” in 2006, signing up for their “lifetime membership” plan, which guaranteed a lower yearly rate in exchange for a large sum up front. Since that time, I have been a continuous member for the last 17 years, going 3-5 times per week, for the first 3 years at the Shawnee and Overland Park locations and then at the Ward Parkway location for the last 14 years. When Genesis purchased 24 Hour Fitness in 2016, they raised my rate slightly, which was against my original contract, but I found the gym to be fine so I kept my membership. The Ward Parkway location was convenient, the equipment suited my needs, it was open whenever I wanted to workout, and the staff was always friendly. I could not have been an easier customer for them… no hassle, no customer acquisition cost, and would continue to pay the bills year after year.On Monday morning I scanned my key card at the front desk, and the front desk staff member said something was wrong with my card. When she looked me up in the system, it said my membership had been terminated. She was unclear why it was terminated, but encouraged me to reach out to the Genesis Corporate staff for more info. So later that day I called the Genesis corporate staff, who told me 1) I had been terminated because I had not paid my bill, and 2) I did not receive my bill, or communication about needing to pay my bill, because there was a mistake on their end. They said even though it was their error, they could not resume my membership and honor the rate I had been paying… however, I was welcome to start a new membership at whatever current rates I could work out with the Ward Parkway team. Effectively, “we didn’t like the contractually agreed upon rate you were paying, so we terminated your membership. You’re welcome to come back if you’ll pay more money.”I had a very low rate as part of a “lifetime membership” contract, and rather than honor that rate and continue to keep my business, the Genesis team decided to terminate my contract under the guise of a missed payment. That’s not the type of company I would want to give my business to. I had no reason to change gyms and would have continued going to Genesis for the next 20+ years, but now I’ll be going elsewhere.

This location could use equipment upgrade. There’s a lot of old equipment and for the membership prices we pay we should be able to have access to way better equipment. I don’t blame employees for this but the weights being left EVERYWHERE but where they belong. The staff are NOT your maids so put your weights BACK after you use them!!! It’ll be 5 AM and the gym looks a mess because fellow gym members refuse to put items back where they belong!! It’s not fair an older woman or man has to remove very heavy weights from the machines cause you were too lazy smfh Main reason I stop going to this location a couple of weeks ago. It’s just too dirty and some of that is on gym members!!!

Gym need to be cleaned on a daily basis. Equipment is broken. Mold is growing in bathroom it’s been there for a few months. Hours have been shortened but the membership price is still the same amount. It’s not 24hourfitness anymore. That is false advertisement.

My favorite club since it was 24 hr Fitness. Gabriel and his team are working hard to keep the equipment working and getting it fixed quickly. Members need to respect the equipment and facilities, and quit breaking things. We have a great gym, and I want it to stay that way.

I have been with the exact Genesis location (formally another gym) for well over 12 years. I love the gym and the people there, so I have not left. However, the lack of commitment on your end since you purchased the property is forcing many of us to find other gyms. For instance, you only fix equipment in the majority “upper middle class” areas; hence why other patrons and I have to go to different locations (other than ward parkway or North KC) to find updated equipment that works. Moreover, each one of us long terms clients choose these gyms in part because of the benefit of 24/7 access. We understood the detour away from that access due to Covid; however, now (in the absence of standing orders) you continue to take advantage of robbing us of the benefit of our bargain yet charging the same or higher rates. Other patrons, and I, are currently in the process of looking at other options in the area (there are many of them.)I hope that you all can make changes to our community, that actually benefits us and not your increased revenue that you’re getting as a result of decreased staffing.

The Club managers here are beyond great. So friendly and welcoming! It’s also in a convenient location with plenty of equipment.

Lots of equipment and amenities, polite staff, & nice people. I'm very happy with my memberships. The whirlpool has been down the last 6 months, & doesn't show much sign of improvement in the near future... Staff is epic, which counts for a lot with me.
