I met the guys at the Knoxville Asian festival, and they were absolutely wonderful. They let me try on armor and showed me how to properly hold a katana. It was great fun, and I hope to eventually get around to learning more from them.

The classes are really enjoyable! It has a great atmosphere and practical learning for self-defense. The classes also give a good atmosphere of Japanese culture and the reason for each move or idea.

I love the community here at Musei Tora. I have learned so much, and the instructor is very experienced and a great teacher. It is an environment where you learn not only the moves, but the meaning of them.

This is a great place for those who are interested in learning martial arts within a historical context. The instructor is knowledgeable about the arts practiced, where they came from, and how and why things are done the way they are. The people there are friendly, helpful, and eager to share knowledge.

I have watched Michael over the years develop into a fluent and very graceful instructor. He has spent countless hours studying the techniques and the meaning behind all the moves as well as the culture. I would highly recommend this class for anyone interested in the martial arts culture. Michael is very patient and positive.

I love training at Musei Tora. Michael Cody is experienced in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and he is a great instructor. The training is serious, but the atmosphere is laid back, allowing you to learn practical techniques without unnecessary pressure or fear of failure which often gets in the way of real progress. One unique thing that Michael brings to the table is a deep understanding of the history behind the art. You'll learn why the technique is taught and practiced in its particular way (which often helps you understand better how to move correctly), and then you'll learn how to apply what you've learned in present day situations.

Have trained with Michael Cody and the Musei Tora Bujinkan group for a few months now, and its always on point. The instruction is great, and I have yet to work with anyone with a huge ego. The atmosphere is one that is fun, but always ready to learn. Techniques come with context with relation to Japan's history and how they fought at the time. So it is always very cool to see the thought process behind techniques. Certainly recommend training with this group if you are at all interested!

Musei Tora is great! Has a great atmosphere and the instructor Michael Cody is excellent at what he does and is definitely passionate in what he teaches. He always makes sure to explain everything he teaches in a way that everyone can understand. Not only that but he also teaches the historical context behind all of his techniques. I have not trained there very long but I have learned so much!

So far my time training with instructor Michael and the other students has been great. Learning the techniques are quite easy due to the instructor explaining his movements in ways that everyone can understand. He will also give historical facts for the techniques used and their practicality in contemporary society. You can tell that he is very passionate and serious about training but the classes have a laid back atmosphere that does not pressure the students.

Each individual here constantly gives me more to work on and I've been completely blessed to absorb something from every single one of them each time they show up.
