Northern Colorado Jiu Jitsu and Self Defense

My experience at NOCO Jiu Jitsu was nothing short of positive. Unfortunately, I had to move and could no longer train in Loveland. Matt, Troy, and Mike are excellent instructors and act and teach in a very unselfish, helpful, and enthusiastic manner. The gym is extremely family oriented and fit for someone who wants to take their jiu jitsu competition to the next level as well as for someone who wants to simply get fit and find a new hobby. I remember the difficulty of finding a new gym that I liked, that also fit what I was looking for. This place is worth a shot!

Northern Colorado Jiu Jitsu has been the best decision we have made for our son, Wyatt! Matt does such a great job about making us feel connected and an even better job making Wyatt feel proud and excited to go to class! One of the most important things for me was a place that Wyatt feels comfortable and has fun, but also a place that builds a solid foundation and we have been so lucky to find that here!

Matt, Darin, Troy,- the younger teammates.This has been an outstanding experience for my child. These men are respectful, serious, and completely competent in teaching self defense in the real world. They all have their own individual way of teaching and coaching and every aspect has bee proven very beneficial. As it's not all about "fighting" they take the time to teach respect, manors, and how to handle real life situations. Everything I could ever ask for for my young one. My youngest loves Ju Jitsu. We had stopped during the peak of COVID. After being out for some time, we had issues finding a gym for him. He is only 7yo and he struggles with making and keeping true friends. After being at Noco Ju Jitsu for 1-2 classes we realized that it was the perfect one for him. We were late to class as my kid was telling me about his day. He was telling me that kids were telling him that he didn’t matter and he has no value. We show up to class and it is obvious we are both upset. Matt (one of the instructors) notices and I tell him about the issues my kid was facing and the emotional toll it had done for the day. Matt explained that the instructors teach the youth about bullying and thankfully took the time to discuss it that day. It was life changing for my kid. He felt empowered. He realized he wasn’t alone as other kids in class were able to relate and/or had gone through similar situations. He is a totally different kid. He works hard, is dedicated to showing up to class, and he listens. He just got his first stripe and he is so proud of himself.

What a great BJJ Gym! Troy & Matt have created a great environment to learn BJJ. As an older participant, I have enjoyed 'Rolling' with everyone at NOCO. The higher belts are always willing to patiently teach us. It's a great place to have fun, make friends and improve each class or open mat.

My kids go to NoCo Jiujitsu and have loved it from day one! They walked out of their first class with great confidence and excitement to learn more and from just one class, had taken away some great self defense moves. The owners Matt and Troy care and check in. They reach out directly, shortly after joining, to see if there’s anything they can do to better our experience and to make sure we are feeling good about being there. The rest of the NoCo Jiujitsu team are very kind and supportive. The facility is clean and is run well. My kids have grown so much in their self defense and self confidence in a short period of time. I would highly recommend it!

I’ve been training at NoCo for a few months now. The school is amazing. Matt and Troy do a great job preparing different Jiu Jitsu students based on their goals in the sport (competition, fitness, self defense). The school feels like a family but there is still structure to the classes.

Come to NoCo Jiu Jitsu! I have really enjoyed starting my Jiu Jitsu journey here so far. It can be nerve racking to start a martial art for the first time and the coaches and members of NoCo Jiu Jitsu have been fantastic at welcoming me! I've learned a lot in the last few months I've been training here and it has been one of the biggest motivators in my life to improve myself mentally and physically. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone at any level.

Quality training and quality instructors. Troy and Matt emphasize safety for yourself and others during class and strive to teach BJJ that fits and works for you, instead of one size fits all. Everybody is very welcoming. The quality of a school is evidenced by how they treat you and your family. Instructors and upper belts have been great in teaching, helping and training with my 12 year old son. Great place to train!

THE BEST DECISION THAT I HAVE MADE.Looking at turning 50, I decided that it was time to do something I had always wanted to do, study Jiu Jitsu. I checked out a few different schools not finding what I was looking for, until I walked into Northern Colorado Jiu Jitsu. This place was exactly what I was looking for, a positive and friendly atmosphere.After 2 months of training I am glad that I decided to join here. Everyone has been more than willing to share their wealth of information and knowledge that they have gained over the years to help me grow and improve.It doesn't matter if you're 15 or 50, you will not regret training with Northern Colorado Jiu Jitsu.
