Before setting foot at UMMA - I had tried several different places around New Haven. Nothing felt « right ». When I got to UMMA, I felt like I had found the right place. A MMA gym can feel a little scary at first, but there, I felt so very supported, so welcomed.At first I tried striking classes and the women boot camp. Marissa is an amazing teacher, very patient and knowledgable. Then after a while, I listened to the suggestions and tried Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu too. I was hooked right away.Actually, patience as well as skills and an extensive knowledge of the sport are something that all the instructors have in common at UMMA. Even when I felt very helpless or when I didn’t understand something, there was always a teacher or team mate to help. Going to UMMA, made me understand what it is to be part of a team. Now, several years later, I can honestly say that some of my best friends are people I met at the gym. I’m so thankful for that place.

Top training spot in CT for MMA, BJJ, Boxing and Muay Thai, and wresting. Everyone of all experiences levels, ranging from beginner recreational fitness, to professional fighters, are welcome, also with kids classes as young as age 4. The facility is always kept extremely clean, and it's always a good time on the mats! I would 100% recommend stopping in for a free class!

Ultimate MMA is the premier training facility in the north east region of the United States. With world champion jujitsu competitors , professional athletes , and a dedicated staff this gym creates an atmosphere that breeds champions while maintaining a family- friendly environment for anybody. Wether you want to just get in shape, exercise , or excel in mixed martial arts , UMMA provides a more than suitable bridge to get you closer to your goals. The coaches are world class and the facility is great! I definitely recommend this gym.

Best mixed martial arts gym in New Haven County. My son loved it here before we moved out of Hamden. All kids were friendly & supportive, can't recommend it enough.
