Great gym, particularly if the generic box gyms are not your thing. They also had a great system for day passes for folks like me from out of town. It allowed me to train even when it was past staffed hours. Gym was very clean and had a lot of racks, DB, machines, etc. Also have a long turf strip for sled pushing and Farmer's walking. Decor and vibe were great, too.

I thought I had canceled my membership in December- but just found out it’s been charging me $50 a month for the past 5 months. I called and asked why it was charging me- and they said there were two accounts under my same email somehow. (Not sure how or why that’s possible but ok) if I had wanted to a create a second account using the same email, I would think their system would alert me to say that my email is already in use.But, when I log into the website under my email it said my account had been expired since December. He said they could see on their end that I haven’t gone at all this year but they would not issue a refund because I didn’t email them asking to cancel an account I didn’t know about.So I don’t even have a way to log into that account to cancel it, because it’s not registered, but it’s still taking money from me, weird.Long story short, their sign up system could create another account using the same email you’re currently using. He said the other account hadn’t even been registered- but if it wasn’t registered, why was it charging me????? Very annoying and frustrating.Edit:I apologize, it won't let me respond to your review response for some reason. No, I was told I wouldn't receive any refunds when I called earlier today- because of this unregistered second account that was created using the same email I used on my original account without me knowing.Which once again begs the question why it was taking money from me when it wasn't even registered.

The best gym in the 757 bar none, been a member since August 2020 and it's been great. Since the move to the new location, the selection of equipment is unmatched, 24 hour access is fantastic for my schedule, Staff is friendly keeps the place spotless. Never met a bad person there, everyone is helpful, patrons and staff. AIBC is the gold standard I compare every other gym to. Do yourself a favor and sign up ASAP

Great selection of Arsenal Strength equipment, old style iron weights and dumbbells, clean bathrooms, and solid lighting. Definitely worth checking out when in Newport News.

By far the BEST gym in Va I have trained and worked out all over the United States and this gym has everything anyone would need in order to achieve their goals!!! Rex thank you for all your effort and commitment to providing us a wonderful gym!!!

Just came in for one lift while visiting area. Wish I lived close to a gym like this! Clean, Great equipment, friendly staff (responded quickly over email) and very tech forward system.Has 3-4 squat racks, a deadlifting station and the heaviest set of dumbbells I’ve ever seen (up to 150?).

When first deciding to join American Iron, I was hesitant. I wasn’t sure if it had the equipment I wanted or felt like a welcoming environment. Since joining, I have been pleasantly proven wrong about so many different things. This gym is incredible. The gym may be smaller than most, but it has more than enough equipment for all fitness goals whether it be cardio, bodybuilding, powerlifting or anything else. While the equipment is good, the environment is second to none. I’ve never worked out in a gym that has motivated me so fully to improve. The rest of the members are friendly and welcoming. Employee, Martin, is always able to motivate me to have a good lift or make me laugh if needed. The owner, Rex, is constantly looking for ways to improve the gym and get to know each member. Overall, I can’t imagine working out at any other gym. American Iron is the best!

I spend about 60% of my life in gyms because I operate an on-site gym upholstery business. My apprentice and I were called out to this gym by the new owner to reupholster the gym equipment. I spent about 7 hours in the gym working. I’ve never been in a gym quite as unique and creative as this one. There are a lot of cool programs going on there besides just using the space to “work out.” All the patrons - both male and female - were extremely friendly and I could tell the new owner takes pride in the relationships and community he’s building. You could tell from the vibe that everyone there is really dedicated to their health and working toward their goals. No pretensions or attitude. If I lived in the area this would definitely be my gym. (My apprentice is female and felt extremely comfortable working in the environment which isn’t always the case).

Just recently moved to Newport News and of course was looking for a good quality gym. I looked up a few gym's but this style gym caught my eye Old School Iron!💪👌 The owner Rex is one coo down to earth man, respectful, professional. Martin also helps run the gym is just the same these guys makes this place fun it's 24hrs and membership price is good. Just all around good environment great quality gym I'm glad I found this place.

When I moved to the Newport News area I began my search for a gym that would continue to foster growth toward my goals and upheld my standards. American Iron not only exceeds these basic gym standards (clean equipment, professional, variety of quality equipment, positive environment, etc.), but has become a place I feel at home. From the moment you step in the door you become part of a family of driven people, who are ALWAYS willing to lend you a hand. The owner, Rex, goes above and beyond for each and every member and shows his dedication to the American Iron family without fail. I have only positive things to say about this gym and couldn’t be happier with my time spent here! Highly recommend checking them out :)
