A lovely spacious workout facility with a pool, tennis court 🎾 and racquetball area. I've never complained about their services. …

Best gym I've ever had a membership to. Great facility with friendly staff and even friendlier members. Great daycare as well!

Terrible service, already pay an outrageous amount for a membership to come utilize the basketball court, to always be kicked off for some class or activity that could be done in another part of the facility. Would give zero stars if possible.

This is sad what this fitness center become and it’s time to change places. I have been apart of this program for around 4 years as a member/guest and us basketball people get treated like we are outcast! We don’t get the same respect as the whites and I’m just being honest. At first they make a program on the days we play basketball at the same times so we changed our days then they make guest prices go up and you need a ID to get it in so we became members now they wanna make us play half court due to the fact they wanna do a program on the floor like it’s not 2 tennis courts 3 racket ball courts and plenty of other rooms they can use but rather take the court because the black people uses it and gets loud sometimes when we play. I became a member due to the fact they made me or have to pay 20 each time I enter but ms.Beth will try to make us feel not wanted in the gym she is racist and think she better then us! We are all members of this facility and deserve to play full court ball not half!!!! If not y’all can cancel my membership next month and I won’t be paying no fees and will let black people know when they are showing them around that this riverside place is racist and better off going to planet fitness or Onelife!! That’s all I gotta say besides Beth don’t have kids in the gym she better treat us with respect or she won’t get any respect back that’s it- [ ]

I first became a member of this gym around 1994, back when they still had carpet on the basketball court. It seemed like a pretty good place to workout and play basketball. In the beginning it seemed like a great place to workout and play Basketball. There were days when we would literally have 5 on 5 playing basketball with 15 people waiting on the sidelines. The competition was intense and at times by omission a little loud but no louder than the three hour aerobic exercise that went on from 6pm until at least 9pm. Yet from the very beginning it was apparent that they were not happy about having a lot of us in there. Eventually they replaced the carpet with artificial flooring and the amount of basketball played was nearly 6 days a week with at least 80% of the players having a valid membership. Yet the management and certain members of the gym were not comfortable with us there. So eventually they wiped out three days a week from us with volleyball and calastinics in the afternoon. So that took us from 6 days down to three. Then eventually they started to just shut down the court on the days we did play if it got too loud. Please keep in mind that the exercise floor, which is right next to the basketball court, is historically louder than any other event in the gym and can be heard almost anywhere in the gym. Yet they never turn it down or adjust. So because of the constant opposition we deliberately changed our playtime from the afternoon to the morning because of being pushed off the court by management. So our time's went from 330 PM to 6AM. The turnout initially was good but once again when things got competitive and a little "too loud" for them to handle they came up with another exercise to put on the court right around the same time we would be playing. This also became difficult for us to deal with, so to compromise we again moved our days of play to completely different days. This lasted for a while and things were going well but in the past month they have decided to shrink the already small basketball court to half by turning one end into a Wellness class for those who want to learn how to workout properly. Meaning the days of us being able to come in and actually run , be it a shorter sized court, were over. I would believe them when they say they need the space if it weren't for two glaring pieces of evidence to the contrary. One, for years they have been trying to push us off that court, years. They have changed dates, times and days of availability for us to be able to play. Despite their efforts we have always adapted and maintained. Until now they have finally found a way to dismiss us all together. The second reason I find it extremely hard to believe that they had to have the space on the already short basketball court is the aerobics floor right next to the basketball court has tons of availability not to mention an entire branched off part of the facility for two full sized indoor tennis courts that could have been utilized. However over the years I can never recall a time where either of these places have had their times compromised, changed, or utterly shut down. It was only about finding a way to move us off of the court and not make themselves look bad which is exactly why I am writing this review to make people aware of not just their current state but their continued, repetitive offensive history. Being able to play basketball in that gym over the years wasn't just about playing basketball. It was about being able to fellowship and network with not only those we played basketball with but also others in the gym in general. It was a great time for exercise but it also provided some of the guys with job opportunities, friendships, and just being able to have good relationships with people we would meet there. Riverside, though a slow process, has finally succeeded in what they have always wanted. Which is removing us and tearing that apart and its extremely disturbing and sad that after going to that place for more than 20 years that this is their history.

Awesome facility. A fitness center that offers sort of a one stop location so that you can get in track work, tennis, b-ball, aerobics, racquetball, volleyball as well as personal and group classes. The lounges are very comfortable.

We were scheduled for a toddler swim class today (7/7). Arrived after driving for 45 minutes from Gloucester only to find that CLASS WAS CANCELLED WITH NO NOTICE. No emails, no texts, no phone calls....NOTHING.VERY DISRESPECTFUL OF ADULTS AND CHILDRENS TIME.1 and a half hours of driving with a 3 year old....funny that when I looked for a manager to discuss this with there were none here.Really poor service and communication. The actual swim classes are good and the instructors are great. I don't believe that they are responsible for this debacle. The sign ups for the classes are also a nightmare. You need to be at the actual location at 6 am in order to get your child in. For us that was on a Monday and when we got there the class was already full. They need a better system in my opinion.

The 2 stars are for ...I had alot of trouble using the sauna there. They would close it early so staff could get out on time . This went on for over 4 months. And also, the staff would just talk and laugh at people, which I thought was very uncalled for. The equipment is outdated, not very clean and was usually broken. I stayed for only 2 years after realizing there are better gyms out there! You just have to do your research!!

The Jefferson Ave facility is outstanding. The staff is friendly and courteous. The entire facility is well maintained, and exceptionally clean. The equipment is topnotch and I have never had to wait for a piece to become available. I am very impressed with the variety of sports, exercise and wellness programs for all ages offered throughout the week. Recommend you visit and ask for a facility tour. You won't regret it.

They have taught all my children to swim, and my middle daughter is now learning strokes to prepare for swim team. I love how in depth the classes go here.
