Just called to ask about classes for my 5 year old daughter. After the person on the phone asked if she’s had previous instruction (she hasn’t) they I said it would be $49 for an introduction class to see if she “fits in their program.” I was off put not only by the price of JUST ONE class which MIGHT allow them the chance to continue, but also the rudeness of the person on the phone. My child is seeking instruction. Why would she be judged on her ability to perform after one class? Basically you have to audition for a spot here. Which is too much for a 5 year f program. But based on what I heard in only 60 seconds I would never allow these people who already seem condescending and arrogant to instruct my daughter in any manner- but especially on manners.

I wouldn't recommend this gym because the head coach Wahsei doesn't run a safe environment. The injuries from that gym is higher on the scale. He'll ignore whatever issue you have with s fighter or students!

Started training MMA here with basically 0 martial arts experience. Wasei is an amazing teacher and I’ve already learned so much in such a short amount of time. Great coach and even cooler guy. Would totally recommend

I have been studying at Eastern Academy for about three months in the mixed martial arts/combat submission wrestling (MMA/CSW) class, and I can say with confidence that you will have a hard time finding a better MMA gym. All of the instructors have a wealth of experience and knowledge, and they are very hands-on with student development. You can expect to have your questions answered and a solid workout every time you go to the gym. There is regular sparring to help apply everything you learn, and it is done with the utmost care and respect. They have quality instruction or people at every age and skill level, from kids classes to adults attempting amateur competition. If you really want to learn martial arts, you will not leave disappointed.Update: after training at EAMMA for over a year, I moved away for a few years. I continued training, and I immediately started training here again once I moved back to the area. This continues to be my favorite place to train. The gym has a great community of knowledgeable fighters, and the coach pays careful attention to each person that steps onto the mat. If you have ever had an interest in learning martial arts, this is the place to start.

A friend and I took the self defense class (phase one) and loved it! Great, achievable and practical moves that can be used when threatened or attacked. Lots of repetition to ensure we remember the moves. Wahsei was a wonderful instructor making adjustments to our technique and answering any questions we had. I will definitely be back for the phase 2 class!

I’ve been going to this school for just over a month and have previous martial arts experience in Hapkido. The instructor is extremely knowledgeable in multiple styles of martial arts and brings a unique perspective. This is a great school if you’re looking to just get started in martial arts or if you’re looking to expand your skill set with something new and multi-dimensional. A great instructor and a great group of people.

We started with Master Wahsei about a six years ago. He is the BEST instructor and so great with the students. I am always impressed with how he knows everyone's name and always has positive energy. He makes the classes fun and interesting while also teaching them good technique and encouraging students to try their hardest. Also, how he incorporates life lessons and character building into his lessons.Highly recommend if you are looking for a martial arts studio.

I have looked many years for a quality facility and instructor for myself and children. A friend highly recommended Sensei Wahsei Miran as he had trained with him many years ago himself. My kids are training Muy Thai and Boxing and I train JKD, Silat, and much more. We love it! Sensei Miran is by far the BEST I’ve seen in knowledge, technique and overall skill in his instruction and educating us all how to protect ourselves from any form of attack. If you want to learn actual skills that can save your life, beyond the use of a firearm I strongly and highly recommend EAMMA. We believe these skills are useful not only in defense, but building a stronger Mind, Body, and Spirit. He has trained many SF groups and brings over 45 plus years of experience being trained himself by the Top MMA instructors of all-time. Come and see for yourself!

I personally picked this dojo to train at for its variety of classes. It remains still as the best one-stop-shop for all martial arts in Hampton Roads. …
