JFSC Fitness Center SC-400, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 24/7 gym catering primarily to military personnel. Despite its compact size, the facility is well-organized and equipped with essential cardio machines, dumbbells, and kettlebells. It features a jogging trail and a fitness room that provides extra space during off-peak hours. The staff are friendly and helpful, contributing to a positive workout environment. While the equipment may be older, it is well-maintained. However, users may experience some discomfort due to the gym's inconsistent air conditioning, especially during summer months.

The gym lacks bars, discs, and specific equipment for Olympic lifting, powerlifting, or Crossfit workouts, making it less suitable for those with specialized training needs. Despite this, the gym provides a clean, uncrowded, and accessible space for general fitness activities.

Pros:

  • Open 24/7
  • Friendly and professional staff
  • Never crowded
  • Well-maintained equipment
  • Private workout space available
  • JOGGING trail outside
  • Convenient location within a military facility
  • Good range of cardio machines and free weights

Cons:

  • Inconsistent air conditioning
  • Limited specialized equipment
  • Building conditions need improvement

Very small gym but well laid out. It gets pretty hot inside but standing in front of the fans helps. Great staff at the gyms I visited.

Air conditioning doesn't keep up with summer. Open 24/7 generally self service. Jogging trail outside. Older equipment but well maintained

Not bad for a "hotel gym" experience.Small, never crowded, 24/7. Enough equipment but don't expect bars or discs

This gym is 24hr and when the desk is manned you need a cac when it is not you don't need anything you can just walk in. They have a men's and womens restroom. Fountain for your water bottle. This gym has "everything" you need, honestly. 2 sets of dumbbells of every weight up too 100lb but no bars or plates of any kind. No bar for the squat rack or the bench and no plates...just dumbbells and kettle bells. They got machines for compound movements like squats and bench but obviously it's not the same. No idea why they left the bench and the squat racks there with no bars or weights.

Small well maintained and we'll equipped hidden gym on JFSC. Wish they stayed open later than 1930 or stayed accessible 24/7 for registered members like they do at LAFB or MCRD in SD. Staff is very friendly and professional and make for such a pleasant encounter during my weekly visits. Would give 5 stars if they extended access times. Great little gym otherwise.

An OK gym that is pretty small. Only one squat rack. Too many treadmills and ellipticals with no step-mills, air-bikes, Jacob's ladders, SkiErgs, or VeraClimbers. The building is in very rough shape, and they definitely have issues with the HVAC. The gymnasium and spin room are always f-r-r-reezing cold (maybe 60F).Not a good gym for olympic lifting, powerlifting, or crossfit-type workouts.

My go-to hidden gem. Was a little hard finding it for the first time, since the Maps app will route you to a gate that’s closed. Small but everything you need for a great workout, and if you catch it at the right time, it nearly empty. Nothings as sexy as an empty gym. Also if there isn’t any classes in the group fitness room that’s located in the basketball court, then you have an even more private/empty room to workout in :)

An excellent place to work out...ellipticals, treadmills, rowers, etc. A great tange of free weights and mchines. Not too busy so getting a good workout in without much waiting is easy to do. Friendly, helpful staff.
